Master’s Sunday Lunch at Home & Watch Party

Honey and Whit watched the Master’s all week from Whistler and were pleased as punch to be back home for the big day on Sunday. It’s one of the few days a year Honey wants to park himself in front of the TV and do nothing. Like I’ve done pretty much every Master’s we’ve been in town, I put together a themed lunch.

The traditional menu consisted of Pimento Cheese and Egg Salad Sandwiches, chips and the Augusta National Sour Cream Pound Cake. I served sweet tea and lemonade which, of course, make the iconic Arnold Palmer.

I always buy Palmetto Cheese for pimento cheese. Why make what you can buy?! As Daddy-O pointed out after many visits to the Master’s – it is important that the bread is inexpensive square white bread. (Like Publix brand)

Amanda’s Egg Salad

Combine all of this and serve on white bread; Makes 4 sandwiches

  • 6 eggs, boiled, peeled and chopped
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (I use Duke’s)
  • 2 T. pickle relish (I like sweet, but sometimes use dill too)
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1/8 t pepper
  • 1/4 t celery seed

Augusta National Sour Cream Bundt Cake

I have a few fantastic bundt cake recipes and almost didn’t even try this one. When I had everything on hand for it (as opposed to my stand-bys), I decided I had nothing to lose. Turns out, it was REALLY good. It’s very similar to the one Marme has made forever. We liked it so much that I’m making it again for Easter.

Everything here came from my collection of party wares. The Georgia plate was a gift and the napkins are from one of our wedding showers. (I’m trying to use them all up!)

My sweet neighbor usually has a Master’s party. With her husband AT the tournament, she decided to turn it into a small ladies only gathering (with a few of the littles). We noshed on more pimento cheese, Green Jacket Salad and the Azalea cocktail. I’ve never enjoyed the Master’s so much!

It was a delightful Sunday!

    1. Yes!! Actually, the guys were planning to do this with any left overs… but there weren’t any by Monday night.

  1. I used to swear by the Palmetto brand pimento cheese but if you can get it you must try the Red Clay Gourmet brand!

  2. It was a great Masters and the sudden death ending made it even more exciting! I knew about egg salad and pimento cheese sandwiches on the menu at Augusta but didn’t realize there was a pound cake as well so I will have to try the recipe out. Thanks for sharing and love all your Masters related tablescapes.
