I am so happy with how this fun, festive patriotic table setting turned out! We’ve been enjoying it for family suppers these past few weeks, and it makes every meal feel like a little celebration.
My only hesitation when I wallpapered the dining room last year was whether my holiday decor would still work with the new look. That worry was for nothing… turns out I’ve loved this room dressed up for every season and celebration!
For this patriotic look, I used my beloved Blue Italian jar as a vase, filled with red, white, and blue flowers, and added two little flags for that extra dash of Americana. I swapped my everyday white candlesticks for the Blue Italian ones to tie it all together.
The darling linens were an April Cornell sale find. While they aren’t specifically for patriotic holidays, the cheerful red, white, and blue just scream summer to me. I’m using my Blue Willow plates paired with red bow plates I added to my collection last Christmas – one of my favorite layering tricks. The place cards are old, from John’s confirmation, but I love reusing them for special touches like this.
When I had my seamstress make the chair covers last year, I also had him sew up these sweet scalloped toppers. They took him ages to finish, and then they sat with my monogrammer for months while I decided exactly what to put on them! I landed on my double-letter AW monogram on one side in two shades of brown pulled straight from the wallpaper. I’m still mulling over whether to do the same on the reverse or switch it up a bit. Decisions, decisions!
Over on the mirror, I draped a bunting I’ve used in a variety of places over the years. A few small command hooks hold it perfectly in place.
Last but not least, I have my grandma’s rose bowl filled with mini flags on the sideboard. Once the flowers on the table faded, I moved this simple piece to the centerpiece… proof that sometimes the simplest touches are the most special.
And that wraps up my patriotic tour indoors! I’m hoping to snap a few photos of our outdoor touches this weekend… assuming we get a break in the heat (and the thunderstorms!). Fingers crossed! :-)
