This weekend was one of my very favorite events of the entire school year – the Fine Arts Holiday Showcase. It’s always such a bright spot in the busy holiday season, a chance to slow down and soak in the incredible creativity, talent and hard work happening right inside our own school walls.

On display you’ll find everything from oils and watercolors to yarn work, sewing projects, mixed media pieces and sculptures. Truly, the breadth of talent on display was astonishing. Musical theater performed a few numbers and ensembles fill the lobby. But my very favorite part of the show, as it always is, was watching my cellist take the stage with the Chamber Orchestra.

Whit auditioned for this orchestra earlier this year, and when his hard work paid off and he earned a spot, we were just so proud of him. They played beautifully.
I shared a delightful clip of the full orchestra playing Sleigh Ride over on Instagram, and I’d be so glad if you’d hop over and give it a listen. Whit would be too. It’s pure joy in musical form.

Bravo to these talented students and to the dedicated staff who poured so much thought and heart into creating such a meaningful, inspiring program. We love you, Whit, and we are so proud of you!

I just love the joy on his face! Everyone should have “something” like that in their lives! And thanks for the added listen!
I couldn’t agree more!
I love what a renaissance man Whit (Cookie) is.
Long time reader. Started reading you I am mom of ‘07
& ‘09 baby boys.
I’m not on Instagram & so your little corner of the shrunk down corner of blogosphere is my fun.
Glad you maintain & share it still.
Thank you so much!! I’ll admit, there are days when it is hard to get a post going but I do love it. I tried to upload the video of him playing to the blog but it was taking forever and I was probably doing it wrong. :-)
