Ever since we bought this house, I have dreamed of having gas flickering lanterns on the front porch. I just love that warm, welcoming glow they create.
But as anyone who has owned a home knows, there always seems to be a long list of projects competing for attention. Over the years we have tackled quite a few bigger updates around here, and running gas lines for porch lanterns simply never made it to the top of the list.
And then, a few months ago, I saw a friend mention flickering light bulbs on Instagram and decided to go down the rabbit hole.
After a little research, I ordered a set to try in our front porch lanterns, and I am thrilled to report they have been fantastic. I have had them installed for about six months now, and they create the prettiest little flame effect at night. It is surprisingly realistic and adds such a cozy glow to the porch.
The funniest part has been how many friends and neighbors have asked about them. More than once someone has assumed we finally ran a gas line out to the lanterns. It has been so fun to say, “Nope… just a light bulb,” and send them the Amazon link.
Sometimes the simplest little upgrade makes the biggest difference.
