I have a sweet friend, SD, who also has a senior this year, and she is one of my very favorite partners in crime when it comes to scheming up ways to celebrate all the little things. We’re always sharing ideas, and when this Senior Year Bucket List landed in my texts, I knew immediately that I needed one too.
She found the cutest seller on Etsy with a completely customizable digital banner template. Once purchased, you open the design in Canva and can change everything to make it your own. I added all of the milestones we hope to celebrate over the next nine months, personalized for Whit.
Our list has everything from the big milestones like college decision, prom and graduation to all of the things that make senior year senior year: football season, golf, his GSGA internship, school breaks, his 18th birthday, banquets and plenty more.
With the design complete, I sent it off to Walgreens to have it printed. With one of their perpetual promo codes, the giant print was only about $15 and ready in an hour. Easy peasy.
Except, of course, it wasn’t. Ha! The one little snag was that I needed a paid Canva account to download the finished design in high enough resolution to print at this size. I do not have one, so naturally this very simple project then required bringing in another friend, LH, who ultimately had to bring in her husband. What started with SD sending me an Etsy link ended with a small village getting one senior-year banner onto my kitchen wall.
Y’all know the saying. It takes a village. Apparently that applies to Canva downloads too.
Seriously though…. I’m so appreciative of the friends who send me these fun ideas and equally appreciative of the ones who dive right in when I inevitably need help making them happen.
SD also did the legwork of finding perfectly sized stickers to cover each checkbox as we make our way through the year, so I didn’t even have to figure that part out. She’s my kind of people.
As you can see, we’re already off to a solid start! Cap-and-gown pictures, senior pictures, Senior Breakfast and the first day of senior year have all been checked off, with so many good things still ahead.
I hung the banner right in the kitchen where we’ll see it every single day. Does a gigantic senior-year bucket list particularly complement my kitchen decor? No. Do I care? Also no. It is staying right where it is because this year isn’t about perfect decor. It’s about soaking up every bit of the fun, celebrating all the little things and making sure we don’t let these milestones fly by without noticing them.
We have a whole lot left to check off, and I can’t wait. Class of 2027, we’re just getting started!
