Celebrating the Class of 2027 {The Senior Walk}

And just like that, senior year is officially underway!

As is tradition at most of the high schools in our area, seniors wear black on the first day of school. For the Wildcats, the morning begins at a church just down the road from campus, where the Class of 2027 gathers to catch up after summer, grab a bite to eat and, of course, take alllllll the pictures before walking to school together.

Parents line the sidewalks along the route to cheer them on as they make their way toward school. It’s such a simple tradition, but also such a sweet way to mark the beginning of this milestone year. After all the years of first-day pictures on the front porch, backpacks and waving goodbye as they headed off to school, there was something pretty special about standing on the sidelines and watching Whit walk into his senior year surrounded by friends.

And you know I wasn’t showing up empty-handed. One of the moms in my boy-mom group organized Fatheads of the boys for senior year, and I LOVE that we already have them this early. Naturally, Whit’s giant head came along for the Senior Walk and made its first of what I suspect will be many appearances over the next nine months.

I’m going into this year with the same mindset I had for John’s senior year: show up, celebrate it all and have no regrets about being there for every moment they’ll let us be a part of.

Here’s to the first of many lasts and a wonderful senior year for the Class of 2027!
