Haunted Halloween Home Tour {Dining Room}

Our Haunted Halloween Home Tour continues today in the dining room, where things are a little more sweet than spooky! Pull up a chair, if you dare!

I’ve decorated this room all sorts of ways for Halloween over the years, from elegantly eerie to downright spooky. But now that this is our only dining area, I’ve settled into a happier Halloween look that we can enjoy every day. I love changing things up from year to year while bringing back favorite pieces from my collection.

Those fabulous velvet bows I found at Target last year are back! They were the inspiration for this entire look, and I still love the vintage charm they bring to the room.

When I’m setting a table, I like to think in layers, starting with the linens and working my way up. This black-and-white paper runner has been in my stash for ages and makes the perfect foundation for all the orange and black.

One thing I love about this table is that most of the pieces aren’t Halloween-specific at all. The Spode dinner plates were a gift from Mother years ago, and I’ve collected the salad plates from places like Pottery Barn and HomeGoods. The candlesticks are from our wedding china and remain one of my favorite sentimental touches. It’s fun to see how completely different these everyday pieces look when paired with a few festive accessories.

The little jack-o’-lantern buckets are another favorite from last year. I originally picked them up at Walmart for just a few dollars and gave them a little makeover with glitter and bows. The larger pumpkin makes a darling centerpiece, while the minis are just the right size for place cards. You can see exactly how I made them in my Simple Sparkly Halloween Craft post.

And of course, my little Mickey ghost pillow has found his way back to the dining room. He makes me smile every time I walk by!

Over on the sideboard, the cauldron of eyeballs is ready to greet anyone brave enough to look inside. Ha! The eyeballs came from Grandin Road, and the cauldron was a Williams Sonoma find a few years back. It’s actually food-safe, so it can pull double duty holding punch, soup or Halloween candy. I love a decoration that’s both creepy and practical!

As much as I enjoy a beautifully set table, this is where we eat every day. So after enjoying the full display for a bit, I put away the place settings and cards and let the runner and jack-o’-lanterns do the decorating. It’s still festive, but there’s plenty of room for an actual family dinner. After all, we live here!

Thanks for joining me for another stop on our Haunted Halloween Home Tour! There are more spooky little corners to explore, so I hope you’ll come back for the next room.
