For the past year or so I’ve been rotating between listening to podcasts and audio books. Both are things I enjoy immensely. I listen while driving, cooking, exercising, waiting in carpool, folding laundry, etc. I still lean towards the true crime genre for podcasts. Here are two favorites as of late.
Tom Brown’s Body
Tom Brown’s Body is a podcast by Texas monthly. In 2016, a popular teenager disappeared in the tiny Panhandle community of Canadian, Texas. Two years later, his remains were discovered beneath a tree outside of town. But to this day, no arrests have been made, and nearly everyone involved in the case has fallen under suspicion. After listening to the sad, tragic, helpless-seeming story, I think he may have committed suicide. Have you listened?

Murder in Illinois
Murder in Illinois is an iHeart Radio production. In 2007, Chris Vaughn was arrested during a funeral for his wife and three children. He would be tried and convicted of their murders. Murder in Illinois follows the complicated circumstances that led to Vaughn’s conviction, as well as the forensic evidence his supporters believe proves his innocence- in attempt to answer one question: Who killed the Vaughn family? This is a gut wrenching true story. On completion of the podcast, I tend to believe in Chris’ innocence. I hope that more forensic work can be done on this tragic, incomprehensible case. What did you think?

I’d love to know your current favorite podcasts!
