If you love a good before and after chair project as much as I do then you’re in for a treat today! Remember this sad little chair that shared in my big boy room kick off?
Weeeeeelllllll, a couple of yards of fabric and a trip to my favorite upholsterer later and she’s sporting a pretty swell new do. Carved legs, vellvet upholstery and double welting…oh my!
I purchased the fabric – Como Gris – from Calico Corners at least a year ago. It was mis-marked in the store and after a desperate little hissy fit they went on and sold it to me for a SONG at $15 a yard (supposed to be $45/yard).
There’s really nothing like a gorgeous antique chair to set my heart a aflutter. They just don’t make ‘em like they used to.

You've made her elegant. I so love a rescued chair brought into glory. Good vision for this one.
You've made that chair elegant. I so love a rescued chair brought to glory again. Great vision.
Fabulous but still no comparison to the monogrammed redo you did!
Kelly, I have two friends with interior designer mothers in different parts of Atlanta and both use Crown Upholstery in Marietta. Chang is the owner and is really super to work with. :-)
It looks so fantastic! I just know this room is going to be incredible! :-)

lookin' good girlfriend! i'm hoping to get my headboard done (or at least cut out) this weekend. then i'll be down to the wire on finishing up in there…can't wait to see what you've done!
You really should have included one of the pics of Cookie in the chair. Then people wouldn't think you took your chair into the woods just to do a photo shoot of it. And, the pics of Cookie were gorgeous!!!

Absolutely stunning! I've never seen double welting before and you and your upholster really outdid yourselves!
Great choice going with the blue fabric, it goes great with the color of the wood. Wonderful job!

I'm a southern gal myself and will be visiting Savannah in a couple of weeks with my honey. We're staying at Dresser Palmer House. Do you live near Savannah?
Hi Terri – I grew up in Savannah but live in Atlanta now. I still visit my parents there many times a year :-) If you haven't already, see my list of Savannah favorites here:

Stunning! love the after!!!
I have a chair in our home that looks almost the same as your chair! It was my grandparents and has had that blue fabric on it. I have always wanted to change the fabric. But after seeing yours, I want to keep it the way it is.
