Every Christmas our elf Scout brings the littles some sort of Polar Express outing. We’ve done everything from the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway REAL Polar Express to piling in the car and looking at holiday lights with hot chocolates. Well, with everything else going on, this year’s event was more of the latter but no less fun!
Just before we left for Christmas in Savannah, Scout left all of the fixins for breakfast for dinner and set up the table with popcorn, hot chocolates, two golden tickets and bells from Santa’s sleigh.
We used our trusty old pancake molds and pancake pen to turn out the train flap jacks. They rode on a rail of bacon with puffs of whipped cream smoke.
Needless to say, the littles were ecstatic! (And looked like angels in their Christmas jammies.)
After gobbling up supper, we gathered up our treats and our conductor punched their tickets for a ride to see the Lights of Life at Life University. We listened to the Polar Express on CD during our outing since I failed to DVR the movie like I usually do.
I found this Polar Express ticket on the internet years ago (the original link is now broken). I finally colored it gold, after just using it white for four years) and wanted to share with y’all.

Very sweet and so much fun!!
What a fun outing! Amanda, you always manage to make even the simple things AMAZING!!
How fun! You always have the cutest ideas for the littles!
We went on the Polar Express (Blue Ridge) several years ago, & my boys still talk about it at 10 & 8. So fun!
Love the placemats…where did you find them?
Also, Target had Polar Express DVD for $6 so it might be worth a look…maybe it is even less now that Christmas is over.
I've had them since before kids – I know because I only bought 2 :-). Probably home goods. I am going to look for it at Target. Thanks!!!
Such a wonderful idea for little ones! =)
Oh my goodness how fun is that!! Your boys are adorable!!
