Fiddling

Pigs must be flying because the hole in my ceiling is finally fixed.  It’s been a sore spot (literally) for almost a month, and I eventually even got tired of hearing myself moan and groan about it.  Well, no more gals!  The second that sucker was painted I started fiddling around with finding new homes for some of my Christmas gifts!!!

The coffee table in the den was tweaked to fit the vase the boys gave me for Christmas.  It’s Nate Berkus for Target and there are two things I love about it: 1) It’s petite and perfect for $5 worth of flowers from Trader Joes (one of my “resolutions”) and 2) It adds a perfect touch of modern sparkle to a pretty traditional room.

I took away a candle and added this gorgeous aqua shell that Mother dolled up as a Christmas gift for Sister and me.  I couldn’t love it more!!  The string of rhinestones is just perfection.  She found the shell at Clutter Savannah.  They always have a wonderful selection at good prices.

And, I added the starfish she made on top of my little bowl of mini starfish.

Sister tied the gorgeous little pressed metal piece onto my Christmas gift (money!!) and I ended up using it on the lamp on the little curio in the den.  I’m not sure that it will stay there, but that kinda goes for everything in the house.  I do love to fiddle.

And lastly, my new gorgeous Alison Evans bowl from Hazelnut has replaced the old apothecary jars in my kitchen to hold fruit.  (It is the large size.)

I still owe y’all a big reveal of the PCP’s new room and pics of the new sofa.  Stay tuned…

  1. You are so good at putting new/old stuff together. You should consider offering E-Design services. I know I will be referencing your site as design inspiration when I finally put together our very empty formal living room space.

  2. What beautiful things to piddle with! You have a very generous family and your gifts are lovely! I can't pick a favorite.

  3. LOVE that vase! I wonder if they still have it? (I've been so obsessed with gold recently and just did a Kate Spade vase lookalike tutorial on my blog!)

  4. Beautiful! Love the shell and starfish your mom dolled up. Might have to copy ;-) Everything looks beautiful. I adore your new bowl. I am in the process of updating our living room/library and am bringing back a lot of my shells and beach items. Missed them! They remind me of summers spent growing up on Long Island.

  5. You know my favorite gift is the Alison Evan large bowl. You can never have too many Alison Evan pieces. Believe it of not, I do not have that one. It is on my list. LOL! xo

  6. It is looking even better than usual! I am anxiously awaiting pictures of your new sofa. We really want a new one, but getting a new sofa in the Bahamas is tricky. So we have to wait until we go back to the US. Looking forward to seeing yours.

  7. I just scored the same vase at Target earlier this week…it was only $3.88 and the large one was $5.
I couldn't pass that deal up:)
And yes, I am forever fiddling around here too.

    XO-
    Amelia

  8. I was hoping you would show the adornment from Sister's gift! How perfect! You fascinate me….is that weird?! Haha Jane, San Diego

  9. I love what your mom did, please tell her! And beautiful silhouettes, I feel like you've told us about them before? Who are the images of and where did you have them done? Ok, one last question, suggestions for fabric stores in Atl? Going this weekend to Fabric and Fringe Warehouse to look for fabrics for custom pillows and barrel chair reupholstery (your chair that I love!). Love Calico but looking for a little more reasonable since these pillows aren't forever pillows :-)

    1. I had them done by Clay Rice. You can find his schedule on his Facebook page usually. Go down to Huff rd in Atlanta and hit Forsyth and Lewis and sheron (my fave). So fun!!

  10. We have Clay Rice silhouettes of the kids and they're one of my favorite things–they were a birthday gift for me one year. Thanks for the tip on Clutter–it's probably ten minutes from my house and I have never been in there, if you can believe it!

  11. I grew up in Savannah as well and now live in north Alabama. I love the way you incorporate subtle coastal touches in your rooms. I have many Ray Ellis prints scattered all over the house to keep me from getting too homesick;) My husband and I just bought a new house and I am slowly decorating room by room. I'll definitely be using some of your ideas to make me feel closer to "home".

  12. Amanda, I absolutely love your blog and your style!I have enjoyed sharing so much of your wonderful ideas over the past year! I should have left a comment before now…I have taken a little time away from my blog and have just embraced reading other's, yours has been a daily read…so thanks for the inspiration! From one southern gal to another! Blessings, Suzanne

  13. Hi Amanda- I was clued in to your blog by a girlfriend of mine. My husband is Clay Rice, and he and I LOVE what you have done with the silhouettes, most recently the cupcake birthday party. Would you allow us to spotlight some of your ideas.?
