Fall at Wisteria Hill with Uptown Acorn

Thanks to my great friend, Amanda @ Dixie Delights for allowing me to guest host on her blog today. She asks, I answer.

One of the things I miss most of my years in Atlanta is the Fall season. Fall in Atlanta is one of a kind. The leaves change. The humidity drops. The air is crisp. We do not experience the same type of changes here in New Orleans.

When thinking of a post for Amanda, I immediately wanted to revisit my Fall decor of 2007.

The outside of my Atlanta home was forever changing with the seasons. Pumpkins in orange filled the hill as well as the porch.

I adore the array of pumpkins around the address sign.

A door piece of autumnal leaves, acorns, and wheat welcome guests to the home. In the cast iron urns, bushels of wheat mix well with cast-iron leaves and seasonal pansies.

I J always had fun arranging the pumpkins in the window box. I am afraid of heights, y’all! I am very afraid.

J & I always loved throwing our seasonal soirees, and the annual “It’s Fall Y’all” was one of our favorites.

Centerpieces of real pumpkins, seasonal blooms, and feathers made for the perfect starting point. I even used real pumpkins to hold dips and other foods.

I do miss my Atlanta Falls so very much.

Happy Fall, y’all!

  1. Hi, Ron! Your Atlanta home was beautiful! I love the way you decorated the front door–so inviting, and that tablescape is amazing! I sure would have liked to have attended one of your fall soirees at the house on Wisteria Hill! “It’s Fall, Y’all”! xoxo

  2. Ron-
    Beautiful taste you two have.

Gotta ask – HOW did you get the vine on the pergola so abundant in under 4 years?! What is it.
    I need it.

    Thanks for sharing your designs!

    1. Thanks so much. Here it is:

Clematis armandii (Evergreen Clematis) Zones: 7 – 9. Large, leathery green leaves and with lots of fragrant, star-like white blooms in brilliant clusters. Fast coverage for patios, trellises, arbors and great privacy screen. Spring bloomer. To 25 feet. Part sun.

  3. I really miss Fall in Arkansas, too, though I have to say that Fall in Pennsylvania is better. Your home was really beautiful in its Fall Y’all dress!

  4. Wow Ron you are so talented. Love the door basket and the urns with the wheat added. The centerpiece and food on the dining table was fantastic. All the touches are perfect! Your home must have been the neighborhood favorite around there!

  5. The Southeast does indeed have a beautiful Fall season. You certainly did it justice with your styling talent. I am stealing your idea for that wall pocket!

  6. How beautiful!!!! I love everything you did. Your front door decor is beautiful. I might want to copy that look myself. I love the pops of orange from the pumpkins against the green lawn and how you used them in your window boxes. I love window boxes! That is the prettiest house and lot. I wish we had pretty Fall color to enjoy right now, but we don’t. Hopefully, next month!
