Musings

Whit picked out both of these “outfits” on different trips to Disney.  He is happy to forego getting something for himself in order to get something for his best girl.  There is nothing, and I mean nothing, better than seeing him dissolve into a fit of laughter when he gets off the bus and she is waiting all dressed up.

I shared our Cuban beans and rice bowls as an idea for meat free Fridays.  We have also been loving the Costco salmon with herb butter.  It comes ready to cook in the meat/seafood section.  It’s so tasty with a side of air fryer brussels sprouts and roasted potato wedges!

Lots of food in today’s musings… I shared my favorite frozen biscuits a while back – and MANY of you felt the same way about them – so I thought I should share why I rarely attempt homemade cinnamon rolls any more.  These are delicious.

I don’t know about y’all, but it feels like my civic duty to support the Girl Scouts.

We had a taste of Spring last weekend with a blue sky and sunshine for as far as the eye could see.  It went a long way in renewing my spirit and really put a pep in my step.  We spent time relaxing on the porch for the first Sunday afternoon in a long, long time.

This amazing cake from Adikosh123 popped up in my feed on Instagram.  I really want to try to recreate something like this ASAP.  She’s in Israel, so it’s not like I can buy one :-)

Whit was working on a school project the other day and had the crayons out.  Is it just me or does the smell of a box full of crayons take you right back to being a kid?!

Much like her cousin Whit, CeeCee’s birthday party at school had to be postponed due to weather.  She finally celebrated last week with a dog themed fete, also like her cousin.  I can hardly believe she’s FIVE!

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Elsa’s outfits – this makes me smile! I can just imagine Whit’s face! Your meat-free Friday meals sound delicious; though we’re not Catholic (or Orthodox in any way) we do observe Lent, and I myself am observing a meat free Lent. Wasn’t last weekend absolutely beautiful? Blue skies are coming out here right now – sure hope they hurry up since rain is forecasted the next couple of days. How is is possible for CeeCee to be FIVE (that’s crazy)!

Hope you have a lovely weekend! xoxo

  2. We haven’t seen sunshine in what feels like weeks here, but I am a cold-weather girl, so I don’t mind. I dread our Southern summers.

Hard to believe that beautiful baby is 5 years old. I am always struck by how much she favors you!

Elsa is just darling in her little Disney duds, and Whit is surely the sweetest boy alive. What a heart he has!

  3. Yes! I saw the same cake a few weeks back & I’m trying to convince E to go that route for her 12th bday in a few weeks…..just hope I’m not in over my head if she says yes. It is just so beautiful!

      1. She fell in love with the photo and now I’m afraid I might have promised more than I can deliver…yikes! I’ll post a photo to instagram assuming it turns out ok. Say a prayer for me!

        1. Trader Joe’s sells macaroons (frozen), meringue puff things and flowers. Could be a good place to hit!
