This is Forty-something

I celebrated another birthday today.  And, honestly, I couldn’t even decide if I should write about it or not.  It isn’t a milestone year, or even a weekend day, and I didn’t have earth shattering plans or any sort of life changing revelation to share.  I thought to myself, “what would I even write?  It’s my birthday.  Get excited.”  Haha.  Y’all know I am rarely at a loss for words but when I sat down to write my post this morning they just didn’t come.

But tonight, as I look back on my day, I realized that it was filled with calls, texts, facebook messages, instagram comments and the likes from people from all of the different parts of my life.  Honey and I went to a lovely dinner while his mom watched the boys, and Sister and CeeCee spent the whole afternoon just hanging out with me after a delicious lunch.  Beyond that, my parents, sister, in laws, extended family, besties, sorority sisters, high school friends, neighbors, new co-workers and even my kindergarten teacher took time out of their day to recognize mine.  And that realization was when the words came.

Today, on my birthday, I am so grateful for this life, content with where I am, and incredibly blessed to feel so loved.  I couldn’t ask for anything more.  To the people I know that read this blog, THANK YOU for loving me so well.  And, to those of you that I have not had the pleasure to meet, THANK YOU for coming back day after day to share this fun journey with me.

So far the 40s are shaping up to be better than I ever could have imagined.  <3

  1. Happiest of Birthdays to you Amanda!!!
You are indeed blessed to be surrounded by love (in all aspects of your life).
Thank you for allowing us to share a small part of your life within your blog each day.

  2. Amanda—
Glad your bday was so wonderful! Sometimes quiet bdays full of love from others are just as heartening as “loud, fancy” celebrations!
I’m turning 60 at the end of this yr, and it’s really the first bday that’s hit me “hard”. Hoping I’ll come to grips with it by Dec. lol
PS—love, love, love those newly goblet-pleated dining room drapes!

    1. You are so right. A quiet birthday was just perfect! 60 is young!!! Sounds like maybe you need to plan a fun way to celebrate so that you have a distraction AND something to look forward to. <3
