It was a busy week in the bathroom diaries! The crew was here from 8 AM – 6 PM every day from Tuesday through Friday.
In the master, we had the plumbing in, the electrical complete, the new sub floor down, and framing started by Thursday morning.
Drywall work happened Thursday and Friday, and the tile guys prepped for the shower. The room here at the back is the new toilet room. That was high on our wish list and was possible since we took the extra closet from John’s bedroom.
By the end of the week, the shower tile was in and I couldn’t love it more. We had a miscommunication and had to tear out part and start over, but the crew was great about getting that done.
Grout has not yet gone in but I’m using white, knowing full well it is not a popular choice for cleaning and maintenance. {Shower tile choices – walls, floor, decorative}

We laid out a few pieces on the floor before the tile guys left for the day to make sure everyone was on the same page before that starts Monday! I cannot wait to see that started.

It is lovely already! I cannot wait to see the finished room! xo
Looking at these pics, I think grey grout would be IT!
Amanda, We are getting ready to start our master bath renovation, as well as our daughter’s and son’s bathrooms as well. I’m so nervous and am so thankful for your posts! I’m loving everything you’ve chosen and it really helps to see a step by step! Hope you’ve had a great weekend
xo, Meredith
Hi Meredith, I’m so glad it is useful for you!! I can’t wait to see yours too!!
I have my entire master bath done in carrera marble. We began with white grout and had it replaced a year later with Cape Grey. White grout was a HUGE mistake! It is so hard to keep clean even after sealing.
Yikes. I am doing the shower in white and floors in grey.
it looks like you may have been sipping a nice German beer during Demo Day. ?. Smart girl! It’s looking great and new already. Yaaaay!
I definitely was! :-) Thank you!!
Did you save any of the boys’ stickers from your master bathroom?!☺️
We have white grout in a very similar shower area and even after it’s been sealed, it’s yellow:-(. When we did the kids bath with similar tile, we did grey grout and it’s so much better. I think even a pale grey would look great in there and you wouldn’t have to fight the yellowing. Your bathroom is going to be amazing! I’m so jealous of your toilet room! We tried so many different configurations of our remodel, but it never worked for our space!
It’s going to look amazing! We did white grout with our bathrooms too. It has held up ok, except for the spots my kids scribbled on it with bath crayons. It will not come off! Now it’s mostly white with rainbow in places.
