San Angel Inn Restaurante in Disney’s Epcot

UPDATED REVIEW 2022

There are so many fantastic restaurants in Disney World, that it is often years between when we repeat them. This was our second time at San Angel Inn Restaurante, and it was just as memorable as the first time! The restaurant, modeled after a 17th-century hacienda at the base of Mayan ruins, is located in the Mexico pavilion in Epcot.

South of the Border specialties are served with Old World hospitality in this intimate, twilit setting. In my opinion, it is one of the most “Disney” restaurants. The theming is wonderful, unlike what most people probably have at home, and we all enjoy the food. Advance dining reservations are needed for this location.

Waterfront tables are by request, and we did luck out with one on this visit (and our last one!) The boats from the Gran Fiesta ride glide by while you dine. In fact, we love that the kids can do the boat ride just steps away while the adults savor their margaritas.

The queso and guacamole are both great for starters, like at most Mexican restaurants. I had the Tacos de Carne and loved them. The portions were large enough for Whit and I to share with extra tortillas.

We enjoyed an early dinner and then a lovely walk around the park afterwards.

Walt Disney World Reopening

Disney World reopened on July 11 and we spent nine days back in the parks in July. We were absolutely blown away by the thoughtful, practical and comprehensive precautions Disney has in place to safely welcome guests and cast members. I don’t have all of the words to convey how special it felt to be back. We laughed, we played, we ate too much, and we felt a level of happiness we hadn’t had in too long. I can assure you, magic is here!

If you’d like to see videos, photos and my explanations of both safety and magic at Walt Disney World, head over to the Dixie Travels Instagram. Once on my profile page, look for the circles called “highlights”. Safety protocols are primarily captured under “wdw reopens” and then you can click on the circle for each park to see the magic! I have also chronicled our experiences in these blog posts:
