What We’re Watching {The Queen’s Gambit}

I binged The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix before the holidays and loved every second. I started it on a lark… not convinced a chess series was for me or that my heart could handle a young girl in an orphanage this time of year. Alas, it was a fantastic series and I highly recommend it!

The Queen’s Gambit follows the life of an orphan chess prodigy, Beth Harmon, during her quest to become the world’s greatest chess player while struggling with emotional problems and drug and alcohol dependency. The title of the series refers to a chess opening of the same name. The story begins in the mid-1950s and proceeds into the 1960s.

Aside from the engaging storyline and likable heroine, I loved the decor and dresses of that time period. I give this one two thumbs up!!

Since the holidays I started over on The Crown. I previously watched the first season and never went back. Also on deck is Bridgerton and Emily in Paris. What are you watching?

  1. Just finished all three seasons of Ozark in less than a week on Netflix last night. I didn’t think I would like it but it was captivating. Not a feel good show, but one that keeps your interest. And most definitely one you watch when the kids have gone to bed. 😳.
    Have you watched Outlander? It is another good one. I watched last year because we were scheduled to go to Scotland where it is located (thanks Covid) and I absolutely loved it. The new season drops soon.
    Currently watching season 4 of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I’m all about some teen drama…Give me some Vampire Diaries and Teen Wolf anyway 😆

  2. I just finished Bridgerton, it was a delightful piece of fluff! Perfect for this season. Heads up though (although I doubt its the type of thing teen boys would be interested in) there are some very graphic sex scenes. They are done without actual nudity, other than the Duke’s tushie, but are pretty darn explicit.
