I Love {Essie Gel Polish}

One thing I’ve mastered in the last year is the at-home mani pedi! As much as I used to love having them done, I actually look forward to putting on a show and doing them myself. My favorite polish is the Essie Gel.

You can find it at Target and just need the color and clear top coat. The polish is so shiny and will stay looking pretty good for about a week!! You remove it with regular nail polish remover so nothing fancy is needed there.

I have loved every color and have slowly built up my collection over the last year! Me, and alllll the drinks. :-)

Have you found a favorite beauty product over the last year? I’d love to know about it!

  1. Hi- can you list the color that you are wearing in the picture with pink flowers and champagne and the picture with the martini? I love this and will be trying. Thank you for sharing:)

  2. HI! I do love the Essie Gel polishes, but it was the Avon “Gel Finish Top Coat” that got me hooked on gel. If you can grab a bottle, I highly recommend. Lasts just about a week with “regular” OPI or Essie colors underneath depending how many dishes you are doing that week. I tell everyone about this when we talk nails. :)

  3. I’ve just discovered that polish as well, and am a fan! It’s the only polish that will last on my nails for more than a few hours.
    I’ve tried to step up my skin care game during this past year, and am a convert to Vitamin C serum in the morning and retinol at night. I get the vitamin C from Lancome, and the retinol is a prescription from the dermatologist. I really feel that those two products have helped (my 45 year old skin) look smoother, brighter, and done away with my fine lines.

  4. Amanda,
    I switched over to Essie last year and love their base/top coats. Their top coat like you mentioned is super glossy and seems to last longer than other brands. My last mani/pedi in the salon was this past summer and while I felt very comfortable with all the safety precautions they had in place, I have just gotten in the routine of doing it at home now.

    I did get a gift card for Christmas at a salon so when warmer weather returns I will go in for a relaxing spa day.

  5. Retinol, retinol, retinol. All the livelong day. However, your inquiry was as to what have we discovered during the Pandemic and that’s where “The Ordinary” comes in. It is amazing. The reddish AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is insane. I worked up from “as directed” to a very thin layer for about 6 or 7 minutes every other day. My skin has never looked better. Smooth and glows from beneath. It’s been the silver lining of 2020.

    I also recommend and rotate between the Vitamin C and the “Buffet” and my retinol at night but man, that peel. Glorious.

    Get thee to Ulta and load up. Sephora carries it too.

  6. Vitamin C serum. Retinol. Sunscreen. All givens. The very best beauty product I got in 2020 was my magnified bathroom mirror. It’s mounted next to my sink and I can now actually see my eyelashes when I put on mascara. My 50-year-old eyes could not be happier.

  7. Yes, as a previous reply mentioned the Ordinary products from Sephora are great. I also have to give a shout out to Rowan and Fields. During the pandemic all the girls in my family from 13-75 tried the lines targeted to their age ranges and skin issues. If you are looking for professional quality skincare these lines REALLY work if you are wanting to up your skincare game!

  8. Latisse! My eye doctor wrote me a prescription in the fall. My lashes look amazing especially when they are all you see with a mask on. Agree with others about retinol – my dermatologist prescribes it for me. I started using the OPI gel years ago but maybe I will give this essie topcoat a try!
