As my last act of service to the Raiders, I was excited to decorate for their annual Raider Ball gala event and fundraiser to support the football team. Here’s a pic with the event dream team!
Our husbands all showed up the morning of the event to do our bidding and play assistants. They untangled lights, inflated balloons, constructed the backdrop and more.
I wanted the decor to be different from last year’s inaugural event, not too expensive as the goal is to raise money as opposed to spend it, and have a classy, school spirited look. We had the entire club for this formal event that included dinner, open bar, full band, dancing and a silent and live auction.
I think my favorite part to chime in on this year was picking the menu – I chose all my favorites which, of course, had a nice Southern flair to them. I didn’t snap pics of the buffet, but it included beef, chicken, salad, mac and cheese, roasted brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes and peach cobbler. The passed hors d’oeuvres were bacon, chicken meatballs and deviled eggs. Mmmm mmmm.
As the lights were dimmed, the ballroom took on a magical look with the centerpieces!

It was a great night for the Raiders!
I’ve never had a football player and I don’t even have a student there, but Honey is an alumnus passionate about the school and its athletics. I suspect we will find ourselves back in the stands on at least a few Friday nights this fall.
