Today’s stop on the Haunted Halloween Home Tour is the kitchen!

While the den and living room decor is pretty spooky with the hologram pictures, bleeding silhouettes and haunted accessories, the kitchen is a cute and friendly take on Halloween. I like to use a lot of my Mickey things in here.

Swapping out just a few everyday items for Halloween makes a big impact in the kitchen. For example, the little rug in front of the sink is one I’ve had for 20 years and takes just a second to put out. Just pulling an appropriately colored cookbook off the shelf counts!

I got the Happy Everything frame a years ago and have enjoyed swapping out the attachments and pictures pretty much every month. Of course, seasonal candy is always a favorite way to decorate for any holiday. The gold hand and plate are old Target finds.

I picked up this darling wall flower at Bath and Body Works two years ago and was absolutely delighted when I noticed it projects bats on the wall behind it. So cute!

At the sink I go with two holiday decor stand-bys – seasonal soaps and dishtowels! This year I picked up the Pumpkin Spice scent from Williams Sonoma again. It is heavenly.

A couple of years ago I accidentally put out all candy corn colored fruit, but now it’s a thing. Oranges in lunch boxes all month long. :-) (There were originally lemons here too but I had to use them in a recipe before I got my pictures taken.)

I shared all sorts of details of our little kitchen / dining revamp early this year and then time got away. It seems to do that but having a senior just exacerbated things! Here you can see how it turned out! We absolutely love it and it has proved so functional for us, both for everyday life and when entertaining.

I had hoped we’d be able to fit two comfy chairs here, but there wasn’t space. I had a table made that has been so nice. I serve meals on it, and we also use it when we have company. When not in use for something functional, I put something pretty and seasonal on top. It leaves our island clear for more useful things.

I tied ribbons on this cute container I’ve had for ages. The arrangement was made in a large cup to fit right inside and not ruin the pumpkin. I went with orange and yellow flowers for Halloween!

The coffee area has been dressed with a tray and glass serving piece I bought this year. I still adore the Mickey ghost mugs that we brought home as our Disney souvenirs many years ago.

The other side of the beverage bar has my Happy Everything plate and pumpkin drink dispenser. After these photos I filled it up with oranges and it looks so much cuter that way.

We use the island for everything now that it is flat and solid! I kept the holiday decor to a minimum – using just the Mickey Treat Bowl that I chose as a souvenir from Disney three years ago.

I found the cute light up Mickey and Minnie pumpkins at Publix and threw them in the buggy when Honey wasn’t looking. Minnie came with a purple bow, but I painted it black.

I love decorating the kitchen almost more than any other room (except the porch) because it is truly the heart of our home!

The mudroom is just off of the kitchen and, while they have been outgrown, I still put out the trick or treat bags for nostalgia. Even the puppies get Halloween treats in their jar.

Happy Halloween, y’all!

I can see how the extra table would be functional, but it sounds like you really wanted seating there. What about a divan? Guests could sit while you prep or you could lounge while reading or enjoying your coffee.
you don’t have a table anymore do you eat at at the counter? Do you have a HomeGoods store by you they have really cute updated stuff you should check it out and it is very affordable. I have been following you since the boys were little you need to update things in your beautiful home just an idea.
We eat in the dining room for suppers. Mostly at the counter for breakfast and lunch during week!
Hi Amanda! I would love to know which ice maker you ended up going with and your thoughts on the one you chose. I have been researching ice makers forever, both counter top and under counter. I can’t seem to pull the trigger. I love seeing how you celebrate the seasons :) Happy Halloween Season!!

We did the GE Profile Opal and love it. At some point I need to either change out the doors on that cabinet to be mesh, or vent it out the back into the mudroom. I wish we’d thought of it when we started this project.
