Disney Destiny Travel Diary {Day 4: A Perfect Sea Day}

I looooove a sea day. As much as I enjoy the ports, there is something magical about an entire day with nowhere to be and nothing to do except enjoy the ship.

We took a slower morning, though I will admit I set an alarm to make absolutely sure I didn’t miss churro waffle day in the Concierge Lounge. Priorities. They’re also available in Marceline Market for all to enjoy!

After breakfast, the ladies headed to the Grand Hall for the Royal Gathering. It is always such a sweet experience, especially for little girls. My favorite part was recreating a special princess photo with CeeCee. I love that after all these years we continue to make the same memories in new ways.

Next up was one of my favorite cruise traditions. Honey and I headed to Palo for lunch. People often ask whether I prefer Palo brunch or dinner and my answer is always the same: both. If I have the opportunity, I simply refuse to choose. The food, service and atmosphere are just that good.

The rest of the afternoon looked different for everyone in our group, which is one of the things I love most about cruising. Everyone found exactly what made them happy. Honey and I spent most of the afternoon holding down the fort on the Concierge Sun Deck. Sister gave me a new Solitaire Mahjong board and I decided a relaxing sea day was the perfect time to learn.

The game itself was wonderfully entertaining. My results? Less impressive. I could not win for the life of me. Still, there are certainly worse places to lose repeatedly than a lounge chair overlooking the ocean.

At one point, I popped down to the Concierge Lounge to meet up with Sister and CeeCee for a visit with Daisy Duck. One of my favorite things about Disney Cruise Line is that character moments aren’t just for little kids. We still get excited every single time.

Before we knew it, our final afternoon onboard was slipping away. Sea days have a funny way of doing that. You settle into the rhythm of ship life, relax completely and then suddenly realize tomorrow you’ll be packing suitcases and heading home.

As always, we gathered one last time in the Concierge Lounge for happy hour before heading off to the evening’s activities. One of my favorite Concierge perks is reserved theater seating, so the group of us took advantage of our second-row seats for Hercules. I love that show so much. The music, the energy, the humor… it is everything I want from Disney Cruise Line entertainment.

After the show, we did a family photo with Mickey, as is our tradition.

CeeCee, Jay and I snuck away for a little photo session around the ship. Some of my favorite cruise pictures are taken during those quieter evening hours when the crowds thin out and the ship feels almost magical.

Our final dinner was at 1923, and it could not have been a more festive ending to the cruise. The food was wonderful, the conversation even better and none of us seemed particularly interested in leaving. In fact, we were the last table in the dining room, lingering over dessert and soaking up every last minute together.

Later that evening, Honey and I headed off for one final adults-only activity, the 80s music challenge. Between our love of music and our age, we felt particularly qualified for the assignment.

And then, just like that, our final night onboard came to an end.

Monday morning arrived far too quickly. Before disembarking, I enjoyed one last Concierge breakfast with my little bestie, and honestly, it was the sweetest possible ending to a wonderful week.

Soon enough we were gathering luggage, hugging goodbye and heading our separate directions. But we left with full hearts, wonderful memories and a family consensus that remains unchanged after all these years: Disney Cruise Line is still our favorite way to vacation.
