The Disney Destiny is the newest jewel in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, and she delivers an experience unlike any other ship at sea. With design elements rooted in the epic themes of heroes and villains, the Destiny leans into rich storytelling, dramatic theming and a sense of adventure woven into every corner of the vessel.
I had the tremendous privilege of being onboard the very first sailing – the Christening Cruise – and experiencing the ship in her debut moments. To see her unveiled in real time, alongside the Imagineers and the team who brought her to life, was incredibly special and something I’ll never forget. I boarded unsure how strongly I’d feel about the heroes and villains theme, but after sailing her, I can confidently say: she is spectacular.
Experiencing every space firsthand allows me to guide my clients with true insight and expertise, sharing honest recommendations, insider details and thoughtful planning designed to make your family’s time onboard just as magical as mine.
The Disney Destiny sails Bahamian and Caribbean itineraries year round from Fort Lauderdale in her inaugural season, making it easier than ever to set sail on an unforgettable adventure.

The Grand Hall
The Grand Hall on the Disney Destiny is dramatic in the very best way. This three story atrium is the heart of the ship and the moment you step inside, you’re transported straight into the world of Marvel’s Black Panther. Inspired by Wakanda, the space feels bold, modern and regal all at once. It’s so much more than the renderings conveyed!

Towering columns are wrapped in metalwork that echoes the stacked jewelry and banded armor from the films, and the whole room glows in rich golds, blacks and jewel tones. Overhead, a stunning chandelier is designed to evoke vibranium, while geometric patterns below call to mind Queen Ramonda’s crown. And presiding over it all is a breathtaking statue of T’Challa, the Black Panther himself, standing guard at the base of the grand staircase.

By day, the Grand Hall feels bright and optimistic… very much a “hero’s welcome” every time you walk through. But at night, the lighting and effects shift and the space comes alive as a true “living theater.” The room can completely transform with 360-degree lighting, music and projections that change with the characters who appear… especially some of Disney and Marvel’s most iconic mischief-makers.

Loki, in particular, is a star of the show here. He sweeps into the Grand Hall with all his usual flair, declaring himself ruler of the vessel and roping unsuspecting guests into his antics. One minute he’s delivering a grand speech about his “glorious purpose,” and the next he’s interrogating families about all-you-can-eat soft-serve like it’s the strangest Midgard custom he’s ever seen. Dr. Facilier also makes appearances, gliding through the space with card tricks, charm and just enough edge to keep things interesting.

All of this means the Grand Hall isn’t just a pretty backdrop. It’s an entertainment hub where you’ll gather for special moments, character appearances and surprise shows that seem to unfold right around you. Every time I passed through, I found new details in the design and felt that little spark of “what might happen next?” And that makes the Destiny feel so incredibly special!

All About Concierge on the Disney Destiny
The concierge experience on the Disney Destiny is nothing short of extraordinary. This ship offers 76 concierge staterooms and suites, more than double what you’ll find on the classic ships, and right in line with the Wish and Treasure. That increase in inventory alone is a gift, because concierge is becoming more and more popular for families looking to elevate their cruising experience without worrying about lines, logistics or limited access to special experiences.
Having now sailed concierge on the Wish and Treasure (in everything from a Deluxe Inside Stateroom all the way up to a 1-Bedroom Suite), I can confidently say that the Destiny takes everything that already made concierge special…and elevates it again. The size and scale of the concierge areas onboard is jaw-dropping in the very best way.
The Concierge Lounge is more than triple the size of those on the Dream and Fantasy, with a beautiful bar, delicious light bites throughout the day, cozy seating areas, a dedicated kids’ zone and an outdoor terrace with gorgeous views. This is one of my favorite spots onboard – calm, comfortable and truly luxurious without ever feeling formal. From the lounge, you step upstairs to the private sun deck, complete with two whirlpools, a wading pool, a bar, ultra-plush loungers and exceptional service from the deck hosts. If you’ve ever searched for a quiet spot on a sea day, you know what a priceless amenity this is.
In addition to the elevated spaces, concierge guests receive the most personal service onboard. And here is where my clients benefit tremendously:
I can book port adventures, cabanas, onboard activities, adult dining, spa appointments and more more than a week before anyone else. That early access is a tremendous value if you’re hoping to secure things like Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay cabanas, Palo brunch, beverage seminars or specialty experiences that book quickly. It’s often the deciding factor for families considering concierge, and once they sail… they’re hooked.

There is no one-size-fits-all answer.

Staterooms Made for Families on the Disney Destiny
Every stateroom on the Destiny is designed with families in mind, and the thoughtful details really shine. Disney pioneered the concept of cruise cabins that feel both functional and comfortable, and the Destiny continues that tradition beautifully.
Most rooms feature split bathrooms (a huge game-changer for families getting ready at the same time), smart under-bed storage, privacy curtains, pull-down bunks and plenty of room to unpack and settle in. Kids will love the magical night-sky scene that appears when the pull-down bunk is in use. It’s one of those small moments of enchantment that Disney does better than anyone.
Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah
These are the most spacious non-concierge staterooms onboard and include:
- A comfortable living and sleeping space separated by a privacy curtain
- Split bath with tub/shower & separate vanity with toilet
- Generous storage and cabinetry
- A private verandah for morning coffee or stargazing at night

Inside Stateroom
Even the standard inside staterooms feel roomy and thoughtfully planned, with:
- Sofa seating area
- Full split bathroom
- Great storage
- Pull-down constellation artwork for rooms sleeping four
For many families, these are the perfect balance of value, function and comfort.

Whether you choose concierge or a cozy inside stateroom, you’ll feel taken care of from the moment you step onboard. Thoughtful design is everywhere, and the stateroom hosts are truly the heart of the onboard service experience.
