Happy Thanksgiving

November 28, 2024November 29, 2024

Our Thanksgiving started with coffee, muffins and the parade. Next, we headed out for a mailbox meet up with friends. They are from the Czech Republic and have a tradition of celebrating neighbors with a shot of plum brandy. :-) We enjoyed a traditional feast at my mother in law’s house. One of the first… Read More

Sunday Supper {Wild Mushroom & Farro Soup}

November 24, 2024December 3, 2024

I love mushrooms and have been excited to try this recipe. My people do not. So, I waited until we had a great selection of leftovers, figuring anyone who didn’t want this could find something else. Well as it turns out, the mushroom and farro soup was a huge hit and Honey and Whit loved… Read More

Remembering Matthew

November 22, 2024November 22, 2024

Seventeen years ago today was Thanksgiving. It was also the the first last time I held my son Matthew. He was the tiniest baby I’d ever seen, and also the most perfect, but he was not born into this world alive. I treasure the few hours I had to hold him, and used every second… Read More

Sunday Supper {Garlic Roasted Potatoes}

November 17, 2024November 18, 2024

I’ve used Ina’s Garlic Roasted Potatoes as a side staple for many years. They are easy, delicious and compliment most any meat. The margin notes say that this recipe was a Barefoot Contessa favorite for many years at her store. I never thought to share the recipe until a friend asked me if I had… Read More

On My Bedside {We Used to Live Here}

November 15, 2024November 11, 2024

Every October I try to read something spooky before Halloween. This year it was We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer. While I am not a Reddit user, this book had incredible momentum coming off of that platform and other social media accounts. It was an intriguing read for me – I translated the… Read More

Making Christmas Merry {Ornament Pledge Class of 2024}

November 14, 2024November 11, 2024

This year we are inducting six new recruits to our Christmas collection. I always love unwrapping our new Christmas ornaments from our travels to hang on the tree. These ornaments are just one of a thousand reasons why I so look forward to pulling out the Christmas bins each year!  We started collecting ornaments on… Read More

Georgia Tech Homecoming 2024

November 12, 2024November 11, 2024

We are coming off of the best Georgia Tech Homecoming weekend we’ve had yet! We had a crew at our house and were able to spend time with countless friends from all over the country. Friday started at Gate City Brewery where the SAEs met up. The Pike’s from our generation also happened to be… Read More

Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️ Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️

Whit had the incredible honor of learning from and performing on stage with Mark Wood… original electric violinist for Trans-Siberian Orchestra, creator of the iconic Viper electric violin and composer known for blending classical music with rock energy in the most unforgettable way.

And unforgettable is exactly what this night was.

Symphonic rock. Hard rock. Heavy metal. A full stage of student musicians absolutely pouring their hearts into every note with so much confidence, passion and energy.

And then there was Whit… featured cellist during Carry On Wayward Son, which already held a spot on my all-time favorites list before this night. Watching him up there completely in his element was one of those proud mom moments I know I’ll hold onto forever.

I know this video is long and maybe a little “mom scrapbook” coded… but this one deserved its square among the memories and adventures.🤍
