Sunday Supper {At Home Hibachi}

November 28, 2020November 30, 2020

John chose hibachi for his fifteenth birthday dinner and we had the BEST time bringing it home! Sister and her family joined us for the Thanksgiving night festivities. First things first, CeeCee helped me set the table on the porch! Everything I used was from my stash. Now, we were coming back in town the… Read More

Thanksgiving 2020

November 27, 2020November 28, 2020

We celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday and, while it wasn’t even what our plan A or B looked like, it was still special! This year, more than ever, we’ve learned that most things in life are truly what you make of them. So, rather than fret about what was different, we gathered in masks from a distance,… Read More

Fifteen

November 26, 2020November 26, 2020

It’s hard to believe, but it’s true… John turned fifteen years old today! I am so proud of the young man he has become, and for the supreme blessing of being his mom. He’s driven, hard-working, kind, a leader, easy to befriend and has a pretty fantastic sense of humor emerging.  I often glimpse him… Read More

Thirteen

November 22, 2020November 22, 2020

On November 22, 2007, I delivered my second son, Matthew, and he was stillborn.  It was Thanksgiving day. At that point, I had known for a couple of days that he was not alive, but we had to wait for a room in fetal demise since I didn’t go into labor on my own. When… Read More

I Love {Greenlight Card for Kids}

November 18, 2020November 18, 2020

We got the Greenlight Card for John last year on his 14th birthday. We did a fair amount of research before deciding on this one and, almost a year into using it, are so happy with it! He has a set monthly allowance. When he earns or is given money outside of that, he gives… Read More

Hurricane Day(s)

October 29, 2020October 31, 2020

Well, who would have thought a hurricane in Atlanta would put us out of commission. Only in 2020, right?! Zeta made her way through our part of town in the wee hours of Thursday morning. The power going out woke me up around 4AM. When I started to hear trees fall around the neighborhood by… Read More

The First “Actual” Day of 6th Grade

October 27, 2020October 27, 2020

Oh, happy day! Middle school has returned in person and we are thrilled! We kicked things off with our first day of school breakfast…. round two! This was the first, and hopefully the last, time we trade in school busses and apples for spiders, ghosts and jack ‘o lanterns. I asked Whit for one adjective… Read More

Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️ Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️

Whit had the incredible honor of learning from and performing on stage with Mark Wood… original electric violinist for Trans-Siberian Orchestra, creator of the iconic Viper electric violin and composer known for blending classical music with rock energy in the most unforgettable way.

And unforgettable is exactly what this night was.

Symphonic rock. Hard rock. Heavy metal. A full stage of student musicians absolutely pouring their hearts into every note with so much confidence, passion and energy.

And then there was Whit… featured cellist during Carry On Wayward Son, which already held a spot on my all-time favorites list before this night. Watching him up there completely in his element was one of those proud mom moments I know I’ll hold onto forever.

I know this video is long and maybe a little “mom scrapbook” coded… but this one deserved its square among the memories and adventures.🤍
