Celebrating New Years Eve

December 31, 2021January 2, 2022

We kicked off our New Years Eve festivities at a delicious dinner out with Whit. John was with friends. Afterwards, Whit had a few friends over to our place. He didn’t want to miss a good meal out, and so he started his soiree later in the evening. It is such a strange feeling with… Read More

January Junk Out Jamboree 2021

January 5, 2021January 6, 2021

My third annual January Junk Out Jamboree is in full swing. I started strong and have already tackled the first five spaces. Like last year, I made a list of 31 areas to clean, purge and organize. I find doing it this way is so much more manageable and motivating. I don’t necessarily go in… Read More

Welcome 2021 {Traditional New Year Feast}

January 1, 2021January 3, 2021

Welcome 2021! After a lazy day of watching The Crown, I got to work on my traditional January 1 supper. It took me sixteen years, but I finally proclaimed mastery of making this meal in 2019. Our menu includes pork, hoppin john, greens, cornbread, pecan pie, sweet tea and sparkling grape juice. It’s a meager… Read More

New Years Eve

January 1, 2021January 2, 2021

Well, we’ve nearly made it to the end of 2020! We celebrated at home, which isn’t too different from any other year. We ordered dinner in from a local restaurant, which was yummy and easy. It was a mild night, drizzly so we spent the evening on the porch by the fire. Early in the… Read More

January Junk Out Jamboree 2020

January 21, 2020January 16, 2020

My second annual January Junk Out Jamboree is in full swing. I haven’t been super diligent about cleaning something every single day, but I am making progress nonetheless. Like last year, I made a list of 31 spaces to tackle. I find doing it this way is so much more manageable and motivating. My list… Read More

Ringing in 2020

December 31, 2019January 2, 2020

We rang in 2020 with some of our favorite families. We might have been in our jammies, but we enjoyed a divine meal, great champagne and wonderful company. This group reminds me of the girl scout song “keep new friends”. The number of years I’ve known these ladies runs from 2 to 18 and totals… Read More

4 Things for 2019

January 2, 2019January 2, 2019

It’s that time of the year when we evaluate the year we just finished and look ahead to what we might change in the months ahead. My goals are pretty basic, but are still lofty enough that I’m going to have to commit to accomplishing them. Some of them will look realllly familiar. Attend Mass… Read More

Once I decided to have a party, the vision came to Once I decided to have a party, the vision came together quickly. I fell in love with a bottle of Chloe wine with a black bow standing in the aisle at Publix in Savannah… and the rest was history.

While pink would have been the obvious choice for me, I loved the idea of something more classic. Black and white, bows and a few (okay, a lot) monograms woven in.

I wanted everything to feel pulled together but still warm. The kind of space where you walk in and immediately feel like you’re somewhere special.

Every ribbon, every layer, every little detail… it all added up to exactly the feeling I was hoping for

Y’all come on in… 🖤🤍

I have so much to share from my 50th birthday part I have so much to share from my 50th birthday party. It was such a magical evening, and there are so many details to share and moments to convey that I’ve had to really think about where to even begin. So we’ll start here.

I went back and forth for a long time on whether or not to even have a party. Party planning is no small undertaking. But then again… I celebrate everything. And I knew I would be sad if this milestone year came and went without marking it in a meaningful way.

With a little encouragement from Honey, it was a go.

And once I decided, I knew exactly what I wanted. A celebration at our home, filled with the people who have shaped my life. I wanted the whole night to feel like me. And I wanted my guests to feel like they belong the moment they walk in. A night where conversations linger, and where you can look around and think… this is everything.

I’ll be sharing it all, but the beginning felt like the only place to start. 🖤🤍
