Honey just completed a project that literally drove him up the wall – installing crown molding for the first time. He is generally the most even keeled, laid back kind of guy you could ever wish to know. But if you’d like to see him huffing and puffing and muttering unsavory words under his breath then invite him over to put up crown molding. Good gracious alive! And after proclaiming it the “worst of my crazy ideas” and “the last time he’ll EVER do something like this again”, it looks fantastic. It’s the crowning glory of the space for crying out loud!
He painted the room in Benjamin Moore Pale Oak and it’s the perfect complement to the buffalo check I got for the duvet, shams and drapes. The trim is Benjamin Moore Alabaster.
Lord knows what I’m going to have to do to get him to put molding up in the guest room…

Hanging crown molding is not an easy task – but it adds so much character to a room! This sneak peek looks great!
Awww, how sweet of your hubby to do this for you! Yes, it's a chore to do yourself; but, the end result is so worth it! He did a great job!
Great job – I could never get my husband to install crown molding! It really does add so much to a room though!

Oh it is gorgeous. I would love some, but DH is not handy at all and it would definitely cause a divorce. Can't wait to see everything all done. Hugs, Marty
i wouldn't dare ask my husband to put up crown…he'd probably leave first (LOL)! we did get our headboard cut out this afternoon (with a few choice words) but finally got it pretty darn close to the PB headboard I'm copying. He still has to add the "legs" and something to the top for the nailhead trim….then I can do my "thing" and get 'er done!
It looks terrific. Listen, I am in the middle of trying to get my husband to do a big project and about half dead from sweetening him up. Today was a fried chicken dinner with all the good stuff and dessert. Did I mention it is 96 degrees here? Yes, I am wanting to get the project done. So will keep trying.
The molding looks great. I was recently in a newly built home and was surprised that none of the windows or ceilings had molding on them. As much as it is a real pain to do, believe me, I know because we built our home and had to put the molding everywhere. Molding in a home is like putting on jewelry, it is the touch of class.
Do you prefer oil base or acrylic paint for the woodwork?
Make that latex not acrylic!!!
We used latex as he bought them primed!
Here is a hint: look at creativecrown.com – I just put up the crown in my master bedroom and it was easy and you can NOT tell it isn't wood!! I have used real wood crown in my powder room and it was so hard trying to manuever the heave piece of crown all by myself. This stuff if the bomb and I am definitely going to use it again! I love how your little boys room is coming together! (and no, this isn't a spam comment although it sounds like it, eh? lol!)
Samantha – I just sent that link to Honey because I really really want him to do the guest bedroom and John's room too. It looks really nice!
