Crowning Glory

Honey just completed a project that literally drove him up the wall – installing crown molding for the first time.  He is generally the most even keeled, laid back kind of guy you could ever wish to know.  But if you’d like to see him huffing and puffing and muttering unsavory words under his breath then invite him over to put up crown molding.  Good gracious alive!  And after proclaiming it the “worst of my crazy ideas” and “the last time he’ll EVER do something like this again”, it looks fantastic.  It’s the crowning glory of the space for crying out loud!

He painted the room in Benjamin Moore Pale Oak and it’s the perfect complement to the buffalo check I got for the duvet, shams and drapes.  The trim is Benjamin Moore Alabaster.

Lord knows what I’m going to have to do to get him to put molding up in the guest room…

  1. i wouldn't dare ask my husband to put up crown…he'd probably leave first (LOL)! we did get our headboard cut out this afternoon (with a few choice words) but finally got it pretty darn close to the PB headboard I'm copying. He still has to add the "legs" and something to the top for the nailhead trim….then I can do my "thing" and get 'er done!

  2. It looks terrific. Listen, I am in the middle of trying to get my husband to do a big project and about half dead from sweetening him up. Today was a fried chicken dinner with all the good stuff and dessert. Did I mention it is 96 degrees here? Yes, I am wanting to get the project done. So will keep trying.

  3. The molding looks great. I was recently in a newly built home and was surprised that none of the windows or ceilings had molding on them. As much as it is a real pain to do, believe me, I know because we built our home and had to put the molding everywhere. Molding in a home is like putting on jewelry, it is the touch of class.

  4. Here is a hint: look at creativecrown.com – I just put up the crown in my master bedroom and it was easy and you can NOT tell it isn't wood!! I have used real wood crown in my powder room and it was so hard trying to manuever the heave piece of crown all by myself. This stuff if the bomb and I am definitely going to use it again! I love how your little boys room is coming together! (and no, this isn't a spam comment although it sounds like it, eh? lol!)
