Instant Pot Eats {Easy One Pot Spaghetti}

My kids LOVE spaghetti.  Their favorite is when Mimi comes to town and makes it but nobody complains when mine goes on the table.  :-)  I make it regularly and one night when time got away from me I finally tried to adapt it for the instant pot.

Now, I have to apologize for the incredibly unappetizing photo.  I hunted through my phone thinking SURELY I took something better than this but alas I did not.

Easy One Pot Spaghetti

1 lb. ground beef or ground turkey (I switch between the two frequently)
1 diced onion
1 diced green bell pepper
1 can diced tomatoes
1/2 tsp italian seasoning
1/2 tsp salt
2 cloves minced garlic
2 jars spaghetti sauce
1.5 jars water
1 lb spaghetti noodles

Set the Instant Pot to saute and add the ground meat, onion, garlic and pepper.   Add the salt and Italian seasonings.  Cook until meat is browned.  Turn the Instant Pot off. and drain grease if needed.

Break the spaghetti in half and place on top of meat in the Instant Pot by adding a little at a time and having it cross over each other in different directions to help avoid clumping.   Pour over the spaghetti sauce and diced tomato, ensuring the spaghetti is fully covered in liquid

Seal the instant pot and set to pressure cooking with.  Cook for 8 minutes and then use the quick release.  Stir well.

NOTE: Always follow the manufacturer directions for your specific Instant Pot, including on sealing, venting and cooking times.

So, this is far from earth shattering recipe wise.  But I thought it was worth sharing for the sheer fact that it takes no time at all to make and it all cooks in ONE pot!  You could certainly substitute a more sophisticated recipe keeping the general ratio of 1 lb of noodles to 2 jars of sauce in mind.

I’m cooking from the new Magnolia Table book tonight.  EEKKKK!!!  I think I’m going to make my way through it like I did with Foolproof a couple of years ago.  That is still my all time fave.

  3. This looks so easy and good. I got my Instant Pot for my birthday in March. I am going to try this recipe. Did you add any water with the pasta? I am making chicken spaghetti tonight and wondering if should try it in the IP. Did you buy the IP cookbook at William Sonoma? I wonder if is helpful.

  4. What are the sizes of your sauce jars? Do you add 2 32oz jars? Plus the diced tomatoes? Making it now in my instapot but thought I would ask for future… one pot to clean vs several is ideal!

    1. Yes, the large jars. I think they are more like 24 oz jars. You probably can’t use too much! Too little would not be good.
