Sunday Supper {Chicken & Wild Rice Soup}

I made the Chicken & Wild Rice Soup from Magnolia Table for last week’s Sunday Supper and it was delicious.  I served it with a green salad and honey buttered rolls.  Everyone loved it and, like last week’s chicken tortilla soup, this one will definitely go on the fall and winter rotation!  The recipe made plenty for two full dinners, which is always a goal of mine when cooking.

For the optional items, I did add in the bay leaf and the wine.  I did not add the parsley because I thought I had some in my garden but it was dead.  :-)

I made the cinnamon squares this morning and they did not turn out well at ALL.  I will try to share and get input on those later this week.  HA!

I hope all of you are enjoying a nice holiday weekend.  We spent the last two nights hanging with friends and the last two days lounging at home, which has been so nice for a change.

  1. We love the chicken & wild rice soup….the original recipe appeared in the Southern Living March 2011 issue in an article titled Soul Food and subtitled “Lenten lunches at Birmingham’s Cathedral Church of the Advent…..” I have prepared this recipe many times and it remains one of my favorites. Makes a great gift to recuperating friends and neighbors.

    1. I’ll have to look that one up! I went through all of my old SL Annual Recipe books and donated almost all of them a couple of weeks ago. Otherwise, I know I would have that one!

    2. These both sound delicious! Going to make this week! How do you make the honey rolls? They sound so good with this! Thanks for sharing, thinking of buying tumhe cookbook!

      1. They are SO good and easy. I buy the yellow bag of frozen Parker Style Rolls. I put 9 in a square dish the morning of serving to let them thaw on the counter all day. Before cooking I drizzle with about a tablespoon of melted butter. When they come out I do another tablespoon of melted butter and drizzle honey all over the tops.

        1. Thank you so much! Sounds delicious & easy! Love this. I just happened along your website today! Your home is Beautiful! I have an older home from the 1980s and we’ve done quite a bit remodeling! Love your decorating ideas too!
