Sunday Supper {Honey Butter Rolls}

We have these parkerhouse style rolls at least once a week and they are a foolproof favorite!  I am calling them part of “Sunday supper” because you do have to remember to take them out to thaw first thing in the morning.

The dough comes in a yellow bag in the freezer section of the grocery store.   It is really inexpensive.

You will want to take them out to thaw early in the morning.  I lightly grease the bottom of a square dish and even space nine pieces of dough.

During the day they will thaw and rise.  They look like this going into the oven.  I drizzle with about 1 tablespoon of melted butter before putting them in.  Bake them according to the directions on the back of the bag.

When they finish, drizzle them with another tablespoon of melted butter and about the same amount (or more!) of honey.  They are absolutely delicious!!!!

Also, here is a link to my favorite square baking dish.  I love that it is beautiful enough to go from the oven to the table.  (Oh, and then to the dishwasher.)  I also use the pie plate and it makes beautiful desserts.

I want to thank all of you that have served and are serving our country.  I am grateful for the sacrifice you and your family make to protect our freedoms.  God bless the USA!

  1. I use these rolls all the time and they are delicious. I have not tried drizzling honey over them but that’s now on my list to try! Thanks for always being honest in your recipe reviews! I find so many recipes that don’t turn out as they are shown. Happy Monday!

  2. God Bless America, indeed!

    Thank you for this post. I’ve always wanted to try these as a quick substitute to see if they are even remotely close to my aunt’s yeast rolls. It’s always fun to have something going on in the kitchen all day. Now, with honey glistening off of them, I guess the time has come! What a great suggestion.

    Thanks, Amanda! Have a blessed week.

  3. A restaurant here in town makes the most delicious orange rolls and I was shocked when the owner told me he uses these rolls as the base. It is really yummy dough!

  4. I use these or the Rhodes brand of frozen dough often. They are so yummy. For large family events I make them in advance in 9″ round disposable pans. After they have baked and cooled I put them into a large zip top bag, pan and all to be frozen until the big event. A few hours out on the kitchen counter to thaw, and they are wonderful. You can warm them again in the oven, but we keep them out to use for breakfast sandwiches or to make small lunch “sliders” with pieces of baked ham. We have a large family reunion with about 50 people who are all at the same property for the entire Memorial Day weekend, so feeding the crowd and having snack style lunches are important.
