The Cutest Cake Pops {Video & Instructions}

I’ve had a number of questions about the cake pops I made for Whit’s Golden Birthday celebration and am finally checking in with the details! They were absolutely darling and a huge hit with the family. I think these are a great alternative to a cake in covid times – they are just big enough for an individual serving and they came with small clear bags for packaging.

Cake Pop Supplies

These are much easier than they look and just a few items are needed:

How to Make Cake Pops Video and Instructions

I only made 8 cake pops total for the four of us. This used all of the bag of white chocolate melts, but there was a TON of cake left over and I could have made at least 16 more if I had two more bags of chocolate. The molds are tiny – definitely less than what a slice of cake would be – but rich and perfect for a bite sized treat.

  1. Prepare box cake mix according to directions in 13×9″ pan. Cool.
  2. Melt bag of chocolate melts in microwave according directions.
  3. Add a spoonful of melted chocolate to each cavity of your mold. Use a popsicle stick, paint brush or similar tool to spread inside the cavity and up the sides all the way to the top of each mold.
  4. Carefully insert the popsicle sticks.
  5. Chill in fridge until chocolate hardens, about 5 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, dump the entire cake and a half a jar of icing into a stand mixer to fully combine.
  7. Fill mold with cake/icing mixture, leaving room at the top of each cavity to cover with more chocolate. Press the cake mixture under the popsicle sticks as well.
  8. You may need to melt the chocolate again. Fill up the rest of each mold with a little more chocolate.
  9. Chill until fully hardened. Carefully remove each cake pop out of the mold. The silicon easily peels back. The hardest part is not removing the popsicle stick. It is easy to reinsert if that happens.
  10. Using a little more melted chocolate, drizzle a stream horizontally across each cake pop. A piping bag would make this easy! Before it sets, add festive sprinkles. Dust with glitter if desired.

Fancy Sprinkles

I used sprinkles and prism powder from Fancy Sprinkles. They are SO cute! You can read more below.

This was such a fun, special “party” to pull together. I am already scheming some cute things for Valentine’s Day!
