We were up and at em early for our full day in Princeton.

Jammin’ Crepes

Our first order of business was breakfast at Jammin’ Crepes. I love local gems and love the delicious mission of this one: a celebration of our local, regional farms wrapped in a crêpe with an ever-changing menu that highlights the very best local ingredients at their peak of freshness. We did jam filled crepes and homemade nutella filled crepes and decided we don’t think we could possibly try anything else tomorrow – they were that good!

Thunder Lacrosse

After fueling up, it was off to the fields. Thunder won two out of their three games and we loved cheering on this kid!

Hoagie Haven

Everyone was hot, sticky and ravenous after the game so we popped back in the hotel for showers and to cool off. Our next stop was lunch at Hoagie Haven – a family run business serving “the best hoagies in the world” for over four decades! When we walked up and down Nassau Street last night, we noted there was a steady stream of people in and out and people lining sidewalk benches with their hoagies. We knew we had to hit it! I went with the Sanchez – chicken cutlet, mozzarella sticks, french fries and sanchez sause. Wowza. It as darn good. And I should probably eat lettuce only for the next 47 days.

Princeton Cemetery

We walked off about 1/100th of lunch strolling through Princeton Cemetery. Established in 1757, the Princeton Cemetery is owned and operated by the Nassau Presbyterian Church. The cemetery is the final resting place for a President and a Vice President of the United States, most of the Presidents of the College of New Jersey/Princeton University and the Princeton Theological Seminary. Scattered throughout the cemetery are the graves of soldiers beginning with the Revolutionary War, professors, politicians, musicians, scientists, business executives, writers, a Nobel Laureate, Pulitzer Prize winners as well as those who have called the Princeton area home. The rich history of America is captured here.

First we visited the grave of Grover Cleveland, who lived in Princeton at Westland Mansion from his retirement in 1897 until his death in 1908.

Remembering from Hamilton that A Ham and A Burr both went to Princeton, we were intrigued to see if there were any sites to see. This was what brought us to Princeton Cemetery!

I heard your name at Princeton.
I was seeking an accelerated course of study
When I got sort of out of sorts with a buddy of yours.
I may have punched him. It’s a blur, sir.

Aaron Burr, Sir

Well, if you’re at all interested in the subject, this is a curious article about Hamilton and Princeton. We learned that Burr did, in fact, graduate from Princeton in an accelerated course of study between ages 13 – 16 years old. He was thought to be one of the most brilliant students graduated from Princeton in the eighteenth century. The son and grandson of two ministers and Princeton presidents, Aaron Burr and Jonathan Edwards, Aaron Burr Jr. is buried in the Princeton Cemetery at the foots of their graves.

La MezzaLuna

We strolled around downtown Princeton before settling on La MezzaLuna for dinner. It was delicious with the most friendly service and we were very pleased with the choice. We sat right by the window and loved watching the people on the sidewalks.

Halo Pub

After dinner we scooted just around the corner for our nightly vacation ice cream at Halo Pub. This one came recommended by a friend of a friend and was super yummy! The locals in front of us in line had a doodle that could have been Elsa’s twin. We loved loving on BB so much during our 20+ minute wait. We shared pictures with each other and couldn’t get over how identical the two pups were from puppy-hood on. It was also really neat to talk to a local family. Their daughter is just a year older than Whit. It’s chance meetings like this one that add such special memories to travel.
