The Boys Ski Baldy

The boys were up bright and early to hit the slopes. There is a convenient shuttle steps from the Lodge to the River Run lift. As resort guests, all of our gear is stored there so we don’t have to haul it back and forth (probably my least favorite thing about skiing.) They had a fantastic blue bird day and came back with rosy cheeks and tall tales of their adventures.

Sun Valley Lodge

Over the years, I have scaled back my ski time by pretty much a day each trip. LOL. I actually LOVE these trips – I adore reading by the fire in the lodge, quiet lunches for one in cozy cafes and then having the boys trickle back in for apres ski snacks (the teens) and drinks (Honey). I spent the day doing all of my favorite things!

Sun Valley Village

Around lunch time I walked the few steps to the Village. It was so quiet, peaceful and beautiful. I wandered through the shops and the open air holiday market!

The Konditorei

I sat down at a table for one at the Austrian-inspired Konditorei in the village. A gruyere and cheddar grilled cheese, salad and linzer cookie by the roaring fire were just perfect!

Pioneer Saloon

We took a courtesy car into town for dinner at Pioneer Saloon, reminiscent of an earlier Idaho where ore wagons rattled down Main Street and business was done with a handshake and a drink

Inside was warm and busting and natural woods, mounted game, and period firearms create an authentic saloon atmosphere.

Our meals were hearty and delicious. We loved the perfectly cooked beef and ribs, but the star of the show for me was the GIANT Idaho potato!

Sun Valley Lodge

The drive back up to the Lodge was magic. I know I saw it all the night before, but I can’t help but marvel at living my very own Hallmark movie right now. :-)

Sun Valley Village

After dinner we got the boys back to the room and then Honey and I headed to the Chocolate Foundry for a nightcap of their amazing hot chocolate. It is seriously SO good. We walked around admiring the lights and night as we sipped on our treats.
