I had an early spa appointment and every intention of making a full day of it, so I grabbed a quick bite in the Gold Lounge and was off to Well & Being Spa. It. was. phenomenal. There are no phones allowed in the spa facilities, which I completely respect. I settled in with my book and a full day ahead, entirely unplugged.

Fairmont Princess Resort Spa
My facial and massage began at 8:30 AM, but I arrived early to ease into the morning. I spent time in a zero gravity chair with hot tea and my book before my treatments. Afterward, I fully took advantage of the hydrotherapy amenities. The spa itself is beautiful, with everything you could want… an aromatherapy inhalation room, eucalyptus steam room, hot and cold plunge pools, dry sauna and a Swiss shower.
After more than an hour inside, I made my way up to the rooftop, adults-only spa pool and stayed there for the rest of the day. Literally. I did not leave until 5:30.
The views were stunning, the sky perfectly clear, and the service was excellent. I alternated between reading, checking my phone just a bit, and completely zoning out. Lunch was delicious, the margarita was even better, and I could not have been happier.
After their round of golf, Honey joined me at the pool for a few more hours. He also took advantage of the spa amenities, which are included with a Fairmont Gold stay. We especially loved the coed waterfall hot tub overlooking the Zen garden. Just wonderful.
TPC Scottsdale
Meanwhile, the boys were back at TPC Scottsdale and reported another fabulous day on the course. Whit spent all of his saved birthday and Christmas money in the pro shop and is thrilled about it.
Toro Dinner
We planned a later dinner, which gave us time to relax in the room before heading out for the grand finale of our Arizona adventure at Toro Latin Restaurant & Rum Bar.
We dined al fresco under the stars and twinkle lights, overlooking the course. We kept things light with salads and sushi, but of course could not resist their signature dessert… the perfect ending to the evening.
Farewell, Arizona
Whit and I were up extra early on our last morning to enjoy one final breakfast and bid farewell to this beautiful state. We loaded up the rental and were off to the airport for a long travel day home.
Looking back on this week, it truly was a marvelous trip. One where we kept saying, “this has to be the best part,” only to top it again the next day.
We checked another state off our USA map, explored two distinct destinations, visited one of our most awe-inspiring national parks and experienced a few bucket list moments. The kind of trip you carry with you long after you are home.
