Arizona Spring Break {Sedona to Scottsdale: From Red Rocks to Resort Life}

We started our final morning in Sedona with another decadent breakfast at Che Ah Chi, once again surrounded by those spectacular red rock views. We took it slow and soaked it all in… so slow, in fact, that we found ourselves tossing everything into suitcases and squealing out the door. Worth it.

Sedona Jeep Tour

Our main event of the day was a Jeep tour through Broken Arrow Trail and the Scenic Rim, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. This is one of Sedona’s most iconic experiences, and for good reason. Think steep climbs, dramatic descens and navigating right over the red rock formations themselves, including the famous “Devil’s Staircase.”

It was a high-thrill experience… literally perching on rocks at times, with views that stretch endlessly in every direction. We felt completely safe the entire time, thanks to our fantastic guide. Not only was he incredibly skilled, but he also had a great sense of humor and shared so much about the landscape, geology and history along the way.

It is definitely a bumpy ride, though. I could have happily done about one-thirds of the time and called it a day, but the boys loved every second. (Note said boys put me in the caboose… the wildest ride in the Wilderness.)

Pisa Lisa Lunch

After all that adventure, we had earned a proper “champion’s lunch” at Pisa Lisa, which was delicious and the perfect casual farewell to Sedona. Then it was time to head to Scottsdale for the second leg of our trip.

Fairmont Scottsdale Princess

Checking into Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, I immediately knew we were in for another treat. I absolutely love the Fairmont brand, and this property is desert perfection. Set against the Sonoran landscape, it blends luxury with a relaxed, family-friendly energy that makes it incredibly easy to settle in and stay awhile.

With multiple pools, waterslides, golf, a full-service spa, and a wide range of dining, it has that “something for everyone” feel. You will see kids racing down slides, dads out on the golf course, teens fishing and families gathering around fire pits in the evenings. It is lively without feeling overwhelming, and polished without feeling formal. Some even compare it to “Disney in the desert,” and I can absolutely see why. It’s been on my buckets list for a loooong time.

We took a quick golf cart tour of the resort before heading into the Gold Lounge to check in.

Our room is so lovey and spacious and we were absolutely beckoned by the creature comforts of showers and crisp white sheets after our dusty Jeep adventure. We made the most of an afternoon siesta.

La Hacienda Dinner

Dinner that evening was at La Hacienda by Richard Sandoval, one of Arizona’s most celebrated Mexican restaurants. Known for its refined take on traditional flavors and an impressive tequila selection, it absolutely lived up to its reputation. Every dish was vibrant, flavorful and exactly what we were hoping for.

And with that, we were off to sweet dreams.
