I had the great pleasure of spending a few days last week in Auburn with John for Camp War Eagle! I savored every mile of his undivided attention on the ride.

We checked in at the Hotel at Auburn, met up with friends and then walked to campus for his orientation check-in.

We got very lucky and were able to see his home away from home for freshman year! The suite is really nice, but his bedroom is tiiiiiiiiny!

Our early evening was spent at dinner with the boys at our hotel. It was delicious and just wonderful to spend time with them. I know the days are fleeting.

They walked to Insomnia Cookies later that night, and were able to participate in their very first rolling of Toomer’s Corner when the golf team won the national championship! What a night! I didn’t see it until the next morning as I was sound asleep by the time he returned a placed a yummy m&m cookie on my bedside. <3

As for the rest of our time – wow! It was busy, fun, comprehensive, well done and EXCITING! We walked miles upon miles, got to see the beautiful campus and loads of buildings, ate in the dining halls and just soaked it all in. He also met with both his engineering advisor and an honors college advisor and locked in his first semester schedule – with no classes on Friday to boot. :-)

Our favorite part was the pep rally in Jordan Hare. I can imagine how exhilarating it is on game day! You know we just don’t have this sort of pomp and circumstance at Georgia Tech. :-)

I cannot believe we are two months from him leaving home, but feel at peace knowing how much he will love it here, how many resources the school provides to ensure success and that he’ll only be a 2 hour drive from home.

We have his move-in date and time confirmed and a hotel locked in. I know we could knock it out in one day but my mama heart can’t bear to rip that band aid off just yet.
