Uranus is a Homonym

April 1, 2016March 15, 2016

John bounded off the bus a few weeks ago grinning like the Cheshire Cat.  Here’s what went down… Me: Looks like you had a great day!  (and I know you’re up to something) J: I did.  I have a new project to do and its on Uranus.  (he tries to stifle a smile and looks… Read More

Palm Sunday + Resurrection Rolls

March 20, 2016March 21, 2016

We attended the vigil mass last night, and I always love weaving our palms into crosses to go over the littles’ beds until Easter. As we have done on many a Palm Sunday, we spent this morning in the kitchen talking about the Easter story while making “resurrection rolls”.  This is something my littles always… Read More

I Pick You

February 6, 2016January 8, 2017

Y’all, the Amanda a decade ago never would have imagined the day that she’d be full on snort-laughing over little boy humor in the year 2016.  I’ve said it a thousand times but my boys bring such immeasurable joy and laughter to my days. When John realized he had a really high hurdle (see the… Read More

Southern Snow Day

January 23, 2016

Well y’all, it seems the blizzard of 2016 has come and gone in Georgia.  Here’s how Atlantans prepare for and survive a whole half an inch of snow. You brave the treacherous roads (lol) for takeout because you don’t know when you’ll find your next meal.  Chinese and Taco Bell for this group.  Meanwhile you don’t… Read More

Tales from the Doctor

January 22, 2016January 22, 2016

Every year I take the littles for their well visits, and every year I come home with a tall tale to tell. In 2012  John literally begged the doctor not to recommend screen time limits.  And the baby apparently traveled to the visit with fifteen toys hidden away in his undies. In 2013 they dazzle the… Read More

The Son I Lost

November 22, 2015November 21, 2015

Eight years ago today, on Thanksgiving Day, I gave birth to our second son, Matthew.  He was so loved, so tiny and perfect in every way.  But he was still born. Atlanta’s Arlington Cemetery Angel Garden I share this story every year on his birth day for many reasons.  One, because I love him so… Read More

The {Nearly} Ten Celebration

November 21, 2015November 23, 2015

I can hardly believe I’m typing these words, but double digits are almost here for one young man in this house!!  After much begging and discussion, we finally agreed to hosting our very first sleepover party.  I purchased a stack of these darling invites years ago when Paper Affair was closing its doors and dug… Read More

Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️ Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️

Whit had the incredible honor of learning from and performing on stage with Mark Wood… original electric violinist for Trans-Siberian Orchestra, creator of the iconic Viper electric violin and composer known for blending classical music with rock energy in the most unforgettable way.

And unforgettable is exactly what this night was.

Symphonic rock. Hard rock. Heavy metal. A full stage of student musicians absolutely pouring their hearts into every note with so much confidence, passion and energy.

And then there was Whit… featured cellist during Carry On Wayward Son, which already held a spot on my all-time favorites list before this night. Watching him up there completely in his element was one of those proud mom moments I know I’ll hold onto forever.

I know this video is long and maybe a little “mom scrapbook” coded… but this one deserved its square among the memories and adventures.🤍
