Independence Day Eve {Outdoor Decor}

July 3, 2013July 28, 2015

It’s been raining cats and dogs, but our landscaper and a crew of at least TWENTY swooped in this morning and by lunch time we had GRASS!  (They worked on the sprinkler, beds and grading for the last week.)  I stepped out for a sec in the break in the rain to snap a few… Read More

Project Curb Appeal: Porticos & Paint

May 28, 2013July 28, 2015

Lots of good things have been happening around these parts over the last week or so.  Construction on the main portico facelift and two new side entry porticos is complete, the paint is totally done, and the trees finally came down (much to the delight of a certain four year old).  Here’s a sneak peek…… Read More

Project Curb Appeal: Portico Progress

May 13, 2013July 28, 2015

Work is underway on the front portico face lift!  The structure and foundation of the original portico checked out a-ok so the project is going just as we’d hoped.  The existing roof and columns have been replaced and a new diagonal cross balustrade is already in place! Here’s the plan… Here’s the before before… And… Read More

Project Curb Appeal: The Paint

April 30, 2013July 28, 2015

Would you believe that even after an entire day worth of rain, there is STILL pollen stuck to parts of the house?!  I have come to the conclusion that this is probably what happens every year, I just never noticed since I spent my time trying NOT to look at the paint peeling off the… Read More

Project: Curb Appeal

April 23, 2013July 28, 2015

As y’all well know, we’ve spent the last four years working room by room to update and decorate our house.  And while we love the space we’ve created for our little family on the inside, it was admittedly to the detriment of the outside (specifically the front yard).  I mean, we tried to keep the… Read More

Welcome Valentine

February 1, 2013July 28, 2015

It’s February first and I spent a few minutes popping up our meager Valentine’s Day decor.  A wreath on the front door, red ribbons for the dogs and some rather sad looking pansies (clearly they need Sister’s touch) dress up the front portico. And a DIY pom pom garland and the requisite much anticipated cinnamon… Read More

Come Inside…If You Dare 2012

October 3, 2012July 28, 2015

*bwahahahaha* I’m going to go ahead and warn y’all that if you dared to “come inside” last year you’re going to be seeing much of the same spooky decor.  It’s kind of the perfect example of leaving well enough alone! I made the wreath with strips of black tulle last year and added a darling… Read More

Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻 Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️

Whit had the incredible honor of learning from and performing on stage with Mark Wood… original electric violinist for Trans-Siberian Orchestra, creator of the iconic Viper electric violin and composer known for blending classical music with rock energy in the most unforgettable way.

And unforgettable is exactly what this night was.

Symphonic rock. Hard rock. Heavy metal. A full stage of student musicians absolutely pouring their hearts into every note with so much confidence, passion and energy.

And then there was Whit… featured cellist during Carry On Wayward Son, which already held a spot on my all-time favorites list before this night. Watching him up there completely in his element was one of those proud mom moments I know I’ll hold onto forever.

I know this video is long and maybe a little “mom scrapbook” coded… but this one deserved its square among the memories and adventures.🤍
