On My Bedside {The Dressmakers of Auschwitz}

August 19, 2022August 20, 2022

I’ve read a number of books about the Holocaust and World War II, but never one from such a unique perspective as The Dressmakers of Auschwitz by Lucy Adlington. This well researched true story tells a powerful tale of a group of extraordinary women who worked in Auschwitz’s “Upper Tailoring Studio” sewing for their lives.… Read More

On My Bedside {The Book Woman’s Daughter}

August 11, 2022August 11, 2022

I positively devoured The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek and loved spending a few more nights on the fantastic sequel: The Book Woman’s Daughter. It felt like being reunited with old friends and was one of those books where you have to force yourself to slow down so that it doesn’t end too soon. In… Read More

On My Bedside {The Paper Palace}

August 3, 2022August 3, 2022

I picked up The Paper Palace in the airport this summer when I had approximately 2.3 seconds to decide on my next vacation read. It had Reese’s Book Club seal of approval and a glance at the back cover both made it sounds promising. Well, the old saying goes – you certainly can’t judge a… Read More

On My Bedside {The Four Winds}

July 23, 2022July 7, 2022

I started The Four Winds one evening about 9:00 PM intending to read just enough to put me to sleep. Meaning, like 5-10 minutes. Well, I finally closed the last chapter at almost 4:00 AM that same night and had no regrets. I was completely transported to a time and place I knew nothing about.… Read More

On My Bedside {The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek}

July 12, 2022August 11, 2022

Let me start by saying that I loved The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek SO much. I picked it up before our Kentucky trip because I realized a few years back that I enjoy reading a book set in a place while I’m visiting that place. I didn’t get to it on that trip, but… Read More

On My Bedside {Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker & Behind the Scenes}

June 14, 2022June 16, 2022

Before our Kentucky Spring Break trip, I ordered three books about the area. I love picking a few fun reads before we travel somewhere new. The first was Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini. At the same time and regarding the same topic, I also chose Behind the Scenes: Or, Thirty Years a Slave, and… Read More

On My Bedside {The Woods Are Always Watching}

May 12, 2022May 10, 2022

Just before Spring Break I finished up The Woods are Always Watching by Stephanie Perkins. Yikes! I didn’t fall in love with the two main characters so that, combined with the darkness and goriness of the story, left this one feeling flat for me. Bears aren’t the only predators in these woods. Best friends Neena… Read More

Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️ Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️

Whit had the incredible honor of learning from and performing on stage with Mark Wood… original electric violinist for Trans-Siberian Orchestra, creator of the iconic Viper electric violin and composer known for blending classical music with rock energy in the most unforgettable way.

And unforgettable is exactly what this night was.

Symphonic rock. Hard rock. Heavy metal. A full stage of student musicians absolutely pouring their hearts into every note with so much confidence, passion and energy.

And then there was Whit… featured cellist during Carry On Wayward Son, which already held a spot on my all-time favorites list before this night. Watching him up there completely in his element was one of those proud mom moments I know I’ll hold onto forever.

I know this video is long and maybe a little “mom scrapbook” coded… but this one deserved its square among the memories and adventures.🤍
