On My Bedside {The Book of Lost Names}

October 20, 2022October 20, 2022

The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel was one that will stay with me for a long, long time. Inspired by astonishing World War II events, The Book of Lost Names shares the unforgettable story of a brave young woman that helps hundreds of Jewish children flee the Nazis by using her talent for… Read More

On My Bedside {The Lost and Found Bookshop}

September 16, 2022September 16, 2022

I don’t even recall how The Lost and Found Bookshop by Susan Wiggs ended up in my stack, but I sure am glad it did. It was a warm and thoroughly charming tale where I truly felt transported to the little bookshop. The author perfectly intertwines past and present, love and loss, and delightful characters… Read More

On My Bedside {Thick as Thieves}

September 8, 2022September 8, 2022

I picked Thick as Thieves by Sandra Brown out of my Little Free Library last month and could hardly put it down from that moment on. The book was suspenseful, engaging and had a sweet little love story all rolled into one. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I realize she is a prolific author in the… Read More

On My Bedside {To Dwell in Darkness}

August 31, 2022August 24, 2022

I found To Dwell in Darkness by Deborah Crombie in my Little Free Library and called first dibs. :-) I seem to be in a rut of picking up a book somewhere (ie. a Little Free Library, the book shelf at a resort on vacation) and falling in love with it and thennnnnn realizing I… Read More

On My Bedside {The Dressmakers of Auschwitz}

August 19, 2022August 20, 2022

I’ve read a number of books about the Holocaust and World War II, but never one from such a unique perspective as The Dressmakers of Auschwitz by Lucy Adlington. This well researched true story tells a powerful tale of a group of extraordinary women who worked in Auschwitz’s “Upper Tailoring Studio” sewing for their lives.… Read More

On My Bedside {The Book Woman’s Daughter}

August 11, 2022August 11, 2022

I positively devoured The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek and loved spending a few more nights on the fantastic sequel: The Book Woman’s Daughter. It felt like being reunited with old friends and was one of those books where you have to force yourself to slow down so that it doesn’t end too soon. In… Read More

On My Bedside {The Paper Palace}

August 3, 2022August 3, 2022

I picked up The Paper Palace in the airport this summer when I had approximately 2.3 seconds to decide on my next vacation read. It had Reese’s Book Club seal of approval and a glance at the back cover both made it sounds promising. Well, the old saying goes – you certainly can’t judge a… Read More

Once I decided to have a party, the vision came to Once I decided to have a party, the vision came together quickly. I fell in love with a bottle of Chloe wine with a black bow standing in the aisle at Publix in Savannah… and the rest was history.

While pink would have been the obvious choice for me, I loved the idea of something more classic. Black and white, bows and a few (okay, a lot) monograms woven in.

I wanted everything to feel pulled together but still warm. The kind of space where you walk in and immediately feel like you’re somewhere special.

Every ribbon, every layer, every little detail… it all added up to exactly the feeling I was hoping for

Y’all come on in… 🖤🤍

I have so much to share from my 50th birthday part I have so much to share from my 50th birthday party. It was such a magical evening, and there are so many details to share and moments to convey that I’ve had to really think about where to even begin. So we’ll start here.

I went back and forth for a long time on whether or not to even have a party. Party planning is no small undertaking. But then again… I celebrate everything. And I knew I would be sad if this milestone year came and went without marking it in a meaningful way.

With a little encouragement from Honey, it was a go.

And once I decided, I knew exactly what I wanted. A celebration at our home, filled with the people who have shaped my life. I wanted the whole night to feel like me. And I wanted my guests to feel like they belong the moment they walk in. A night where conversations linger, and where you can look around and think… this is everything.

I’ll be sharing it all, but the beginning felt like the only place to start. 🖤🤍
Today I turn 50. I don’t know that I’ve done Today I turn 50.

I don’t know that I’ve done everything perfectly over the last five decades, but I do know this… I have no regrets. I raised the kids, loved the husband, got the dogs, took the trip, accepted the job, and showed up with my whole heart.

Friday night I celebrated with a house, yard and driveway full of friends and family at the party of my dreams. My parents helped pull it all together, and John rolled into town just in time to join the fun.

This morning started with coffee among the balloons and flowers, bagels from my favorite spot and some of the people I love most.

Here’s to the years ahead. Good food, good wine, good friends, belly laughs, Taco Tuesdays and celebrations that don’t wait for an occasion.

Grateful for this life and everyone in it. Cheers to 50. 🥂
