The Beach Parade

March 16, 2014July 28, 2015

One of our favorite family events of the St. Paddy’s Day festivities is always the Irish Heritage Parade at Tybee.  It’s less than an hour long, always features an eclectic (and very Tybee-ish) cast of characters, and is much more interactive than the downtown parade.  Per ususal, we started our afternoon at a little pre-party… Read More

Liam & Leyland Back Again in 2014

March 15, 2014July 28, 2015

Last night the PCP came across our The Naughty Leprechaun Story book, by Atlanta mom Stephanie Hicks, and the littles begged to start a night early.  I was reluctant, but when I peeked in on John reading the book to his little brother, all snuggled up together in bed, I immediately caved.  So, they decided… Read More

Shamrock Screen

March 10, 2014July 28, 2015

I’ve had my St. Patrick’s Day door decor up for the last week or so!! Last year Mother and I made the shamrock door hanger out of screening material and a little paint.  It was an easy project and Mother has made quite a few more since then.  You can see all of the details… Read More

Leprechaun Tomfoolery

March 18, 2013July 28, 2015

As The Naughty Leprechaun Story promised, when we awoke this St. Patrick’s Day morn, there was no doubt that both the naughty and nice leprechaun twins visited us overnight!  Obviously the work of Liam the good leprechaun, the littles delighted in a pint sized and totally green breakfast of pancakes, grits, yogurt and fruit.  He… Read More

St. Patrick’s Eve Entertaining

March 17, 2013July 28, 2015

We wrapped up a gorgeous Southern Saturday with a super impromptu gathering of neighbors for corned beef sandwiches.  At five p.m. we had plans for one couple to come down, I ran to the grocery store at six and by seven there were seventeen of us.  It’s one of the things I love love love… Read More

The Naughty Leprechaun Story

March 15, 2013February 16, 2016

Last night kicked off what I hope will become a new tradition in our household – The Naughty Leprechaun Story by Atlanta mom Stephanie Hicks! While we were away in Savannah, it seems a pair of leprechaun twins left us with their story and our very own golden coin.  What luck! I (literally) threw together… Read More

Mother Makes {DIY Door Decor from Screens}

March 14, 2013March 11, 2017

When on our Tuesday shopping spree, Mother and I fell in love with the door decor at Matty’s ($45) and set out yesterday to make our own! We made three – for both of us and Sister – and are beyond thrilled with how they turned out!!  (Note, this was before we touched up paint… Read More

Once I decided to have a party, the vision came to Once I decided to have a party, the vision came together quickly. I fell in love with a bottle of Chloe wine with a black bow standing in the aisle at Publix in Savannah… and the rest was history.

While pink would have been the obvious choice for me, I loved the idea of something more classic. Black and white, bows and a few (okay, a lot) monograms woven in.

I wanted everything to feel pulled together but still warm. The kind of space where you walk in and immediately feel like you’re somewhere special.

Every ribbon, every layer, every little detail… it all added up to exactly the feeling I was hoping for

Y’all come on in… 🖤🤍

I have so much to share from my 50th birthday part I have so much to share from my 50th birthday party. It was such a magical evening, and there are so many details to share and moments to convey that I’ve had to really think about where to even begin. So we’ll start here.

I went back and forth for a long time on whether or not to even have a party. Party planning is no small undertaking. But then again… I celebrate everything. And I knew I would be sad if this milestone year came and went without marking it in a meaningful way.

With a little encouragement from Honey, it was a go.

And once I decided, I knew exactly what I wanted. A celebration at our home, filled with the people who have shaped my life. I wanted the whole night to feel like me. And I wanted my guests to feel like they belong the moment they walk in. A night where conversations linger, and where you can look around and think… this is everything.

I’ll be sharing it all, but the beginning felt like the only place to start. 🖤🤍
