The baby wasn’t the only one celebrating this week! John closed out second grade with some might fine accomplishments under his belt. In addition to the big marathon win, he also brought home the 2nd Grade Chess Champion trophy yesterday (for the 3rd semester running)!! Since his chess trophy ceremony was at the exact same time as the baby’s pre-k graduation, Daddy-O was a doll to stand in for us and snap up a bunch of pics!! (And I’m pretty sure John was more thrilled to have his Ampa there than his Mommy :-) )
This morning, Daddy-O picked me up and escorted me to the official Awards Day at school. (Which is such a treat given my ankle sitch.) John received a trophy for taking FIRST PLACE in the science fair AND a certificate for having PERFECT ATTENDANCE in second grade (no absences + no tardies)!!!!!!!!!! He worked SO very hard for that perfect attendance award – deciding not to miss school to stay in Savannah for St. Patrick’s Day and asking us to cut our spring break trip a day short so as to not miss a day of school. We are so very proud of him for so many reasons. He holds himself to a high standard and nothing makes me happier than to see him succeed.
I think this year’s Walk of Fame is going to be a doozie :-)

John is such a fine young man – congratulations to him for all of his accomplishments! I can't wait to see this year's Walk of Fame. There will be so many things to stop, read & remember! xo
I am so impressed with his chess skills. What age did he start playing? I think I should get Priss into it now b/c it probably teaches great studying skills too. Meanwhile off topic, do you have LP buttercup shorts? If so how is the fit. I have never had LP shorts and I want to order on line but I need a review and I can't find one that I trust. :) Happy Friday.
He started in first grade, I believe. Or maybe the second semester of kindergarten. It's great for math, problem solving and critical thinking! My lp buttercups fit the same as the rest through the waist and hips but are a little shorter lengthwise. They are darling!
Way to go John! You must be so proud of him.
This end of year school thing is so hard as they get older…I'm having a pity party over here :-( PS The red-headed young man in the photo looks so familiar, I think I might have taught him??
That's awesome, Amanda! You must be one proud Mommy!
Congrats on all your sons accomplishments. What a great day.
By the way, I have had to go online to see your blog…it is no longer arriving in my inbox through email and it is not going to spam either. Don't know if this is just an issue with my email or not. I tried to re-sign for email delivery but it shows I am already receiving this.
Chess in the music room?
Lisa – HA! Yes! Usually it's in the media center but the end of year book fair was going on so they had to move to the music room for their last class :-) A
