Today we checked another item off Honey’s birthday trip bucket list – deep sea fishing! It was a truly spectacular day on the water filled with sunshine, salt air, and the people we love most. From the thrill of the open sea to the flavors of Peru, today was a beautiful reminder of why we travel: to try something new, connect more deeply, and share stories we’ll be laughing about for years to come.

Room Service Breakfast
With an early morning call time and a full day ahead, we eased into the day with a hearty in-room breakfast. Because really… is it even vacation if you don’t order room service? When you book with me, it’s included! We also arranged for four boxed lunches to take aboard the boat – an easy win for a long day out at sea.
Deep Sea Fishing
We met our captain and crew right at the Marina and were aboard in no time. From 9 AM to 5 PM, we cruised the open water… listening to boat music, soaking up the sun, catching a few catnaps, and of course, reeling in the fish! The boat wasn’t fancy, but the crew was awesome and we were well cared for.
In true vacation fashion, we forgot to charge most of our phones the night before and only John’s had power (until it didn’t). Once it died, we were blissfully unplugged, and honestly? It might have been the best part. The boys caught numerous barracuda, and we almost landed a giant mahi-mahi until a missed gaff let it slip away. The stories and laughter from today are some I’m certain we will relive and recount for years to come.
Causa Dinner
After docking, we headed straight to Causa, conveniently located right at the marina. Named after both a beloved Peruvian dish and a term of endearment for a close friend, Causa celebrates three iconic Peruvian culinary styles: Creole, Nikkei, and Chifa. We enjoyed a vibrant family-style dinner, sampling a variety of dishes that thrilled my (not-so-little) foodies. Every plate was a discovery, and it was the perfect way to close out our adventurous day.
Cinco Gelato
There’s just something about a full day on the water that makes ice cream feel essential. Our stop at Cinco was the cherry on top of an already unforgettable day!
