Dixie Delights in D.C. {Our Spring Break Adventure}

We are still feeling pretty exhilarated  from what was one of our best family trips yet!  We spent our Spring Break in Washington D.C., Mount Vernon, Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown.  Over the next week or so, I am going to share what we did, what we learned and a TON of pictures.

Part 1: Amtrak Train from Atlanta to D.C.

Part 2: Washington D.C.

Part 3: Mount Vernon

Part 4: Historic Triangle

I’ll update the links in our itinerary as I take y’all along on our trip.

  1. Amanda,
    I have to tell you this is one of my favorite posts yet! As a native Virginian, I am so proud to see you highlight the beauty and great historical sites of our state as well as all the beauty and history of our Nations Capital.

    I know this a trip your boys will never forget and to take their first overnight train ride was just icing on the cake. It something everyone should do once in their lifetime as you get to see so much of our nations countryside that you don’t experience on plane travel.

    In reviewing your itinerary, I was happy to see you took so many of your readers suggestions. We were in Washington last week to see the Cherry Blossoms at peak (beautiful but super crowded) and happy that you got to see them as well. We also toured Arlington Natl Cemetery which we hadn’t been to in many years and had forgotten how beautiful and solemn the changing of the guards at the Unknown Soldiers Tomb is.

    Looking forward to your next trip installment!
