Being Catholic {St. Simeon’s Feast Day}

January 5, 2022January 7, 2022

When we were learning about John’s patron saint, Simeon, during his confirmation preparation, we decided that we would celebrate his feast day at home each year. This wasn’t something I did growing up, but we love to eat, we love to celebrate, and I thought it would be a nice way to “remember” our patron… Read More

Winter Welcome

January 4, 2022January 6, 2022

I looked for a long time for the perfect thing for our front door in those winter weeks between Christmas and Valentine’s Day before finding this Have Mercy cross a few years ago. I love putting it up at the start of January, and then again for the Easter season. Seeing the little uplights in this photo… Read More

Boma Flavors of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

January 3, 2022January 13, 2022

It’s been a long time since I had the pleasure of eating at Boma Flavors of Africa at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It’s pretty out of the way unless you are staying there, but it is one I make a point to enjoy when I am! Boma is located on the lower level of the lobby,… Read More

Ringing in 2022 {Traditional New Years Feast}

January 1, 2022January 2, 2022

After a day spent at home resting, watching football, reading and working on our new puzzle, we enjoyed our 19th annual New Years Day meal! I gave myself gorgeous white linen napkins with a metallic god monogram for Christmas (ha!) and they were the jumping off point for my table. It was sparkly and festive… Read More

Celebrating New Years Eve

December 31, 2021January 2, 2022

We kicked off our New Years Eve festivities at a delicious dinner out with Whit. John was with friends. Afterwards, Whit had a few friends over to our place. He didn’t want to miss a good meal out, and so he started his soiree later in the evening. It is such a strange feeling with… Read More

Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻 Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️

Whit had the incredible honor of learning from and performing on stage with Mark Wood… original electric violinist for Trans-Siberian Orchestra, creator of the iconic Viper electric violin and composer known for blending classical music with rock energy in the most unforgettable way.

And unforgettable is exactly what this night was.

Symphonic rock. Hard rock. Heavy metal. A full stage of student musicians absolutely pouring their hearts into every note with so much confidence, passion and energy.

And then there was Whit… featured cellist during Carry On Wayward Son, which already held a spot on my all-time favorites list before this night. Watching him up there completely in his element was one of those proud mom moments I know I’ll hold onto forever.

I know this video is long and maybe a little “mom scrapbook” coded… but this one deserved its square among the memories and adventures.🤍
