Today we are sending our heartfelt thanks to all of the men and women that have served our great country. We are the land of the free because of the brave.
I remain grateful that we had the opportunity to visit Arlington and bear witness to just some of the countless countrymen that have given their lives to protect our freedoms. It was a highlight of our D.C. trip and something that all of us will remember.

Today and every day I am proud to be an American and am so grateful for all of the men, women and families that serve and have served our country.
On a lighter note but certainly not the reason for the weekend, we had the good fortune of entertaining coworkers, family and friends all weekend long! We kicked off the festivities Friday night grilling pizzas with a friend of Honey’s from work. I also set up a lemonade bar with homemade lavender and honey simple syrups to drink.
On Saturday, John was gone with friends to the lake and Honey and Whit were at a baseball tournament. I spent a glorious day at home. I cleaned the house, organized John’s closet, walked and then read a book for the entire afternoon and into the evening.
Sunday brought Jay’s 13th birthday!!! He was the last of the cousins to have a backyard hibachi dinner and we had the best night doing just that.
And today was spent with bestie M and family. We kept things super simple and grilled up hot dogs while laying by the pool.
It was just about as perfect as you could get and a wonderful way to kick off summer here in the South.
