This is the third and final month of my little collaboration with Instead of Flowers, and we have all enjoyed it so much. April’s meal was served (and devoured) on our freshly spring-cleaned porch on a beautiful Wednesday evening. If felt luxurious to enjoy a gourmet meal at home with the whole family gathered around the table during the busiest time of the year for school and sports.
Once again, we each looked through the options and carefully considered all the delicious potentials before finalizing our choices! I set up courier delivery right to our front door and we happily anticipated our al fresco family night all week long. Since cooking was off of my plate, I spent that time setting a beautiful table.
Each meal contains a salad, bread, entree with sides and dessert, and quick heat and eat instructions are provided. I love that everything is prepared with literally zero work and I am able to do it all at the same oven temp – even with two different entree choices. And by zero work I truly mean no prep, no cleanup. It’s a luxury.
While our main course heated, I plated and served the salad. We customized the options to enjoy our favorite salad from the last few months – Spinach Salad with Warm Bacon Dressing. You can truly make the meal your own!
For our main course, Honey and I went with the Shrimp and Grits with Southern Gravy while the boys picked Chicken, Sausage and Shrimp Jambalaya. Each meal serves two so I love the mix and match option for a family of four. Everything was delicious and there was just enough for one small leftover plate of each. I am pretty picky about shrimp and grits and these lived up to some high expectations.
For dessert, we couldn’t resist the Rocky Road Brownies. The boys were literally giddy when they saw me unpack the cooler! All of their desserts were fantastic, but this one is over the top.
