Over one of our lacrosse weekends, my friend Laurie kept raving about the Holy Shitake pizza at Mellow Mushroom. I mean, I just wasn’t really convinced in spite of the fact that I’ve liked everything else she has ever had me put in my mouth. When we found ourselves ravenous after a long day on the field and about an hour from home, we decided to give it a go.
Here’s the official description: A blend of Shiitake, Button and Portobello mushrooms with Caramelized Onions on an Olive oil and Garlic base with Mozzarella and Italian MontAmoré cheese drizzled with Garlic Aioli and a spritz of Black Truffle Oil. Garnished with fresh chives and shaved Parmesan.
Yeah… holy shitake is right.
The picture was taken after the first few slices were devoured. This is because I still wasn’t convinced even after seeing it. But after one bite I was smitten. Y’all, it’s SO good! I have been craving it since that day.
If you’re local to Atlanta and have a pizza you adore, I’d love to hear about it. It doesn’t seem to matter how old I get, I still love pizza. :-)
