A Dr. Seuss Birthday Soiree

I wish we could do what they do in Katroo.
They sure know how to say “Happy Birthday to You!
Solid party hats from Party City.
I cut out letters/numbers from fabric remnants and glued on ribbon trim from extras I had around.

Your Big Birthday Party soon starts to begin
In the finest Pal-alace you’ve ever been in!

The FISH even made an appearance
 Personalized napkins from Swoozies
We give the boys a collectible book each year on their birthday.  I tape a copy of the party invitation and a picture of the birthday boy on the inside after the party.  We have party guests leave a little note.  The birthday book was actually from his 1st birthday party.  The Cat in the Hat is for birthday #2!
Cupcake Things! After baking the cupcakes and adding a thin layer of icing, I topped with cotton candy. Don’t do this too early as the cotton candy will get very hard and turn to sugar – trust me, I learned the hard way! I recommend adding the cotton candy as close to party time as possible. I print out the Thing 1 & Thing 2 circles, cut them out and hot glued them on to the cupcake liners after the cupcakes baked and cooled.
Cranberry Lime cocktail for the adults and water with fresh cranberries and limes for the little ones.

Today you are you! That is truer than true!
There is no one alive who is you-er than you!

A Present! A-ha!
Now what kind shall I give …?
Why, the kind you’ll remember
As long as you live!

Since both boys celebrate their birthdays so close to Christmas and are gifted so many toys from family and friends, we give them a keepsake gift each year – something they will have forever.  More to come on that …

Today is your Day of all Days!

The holidays are here! Our trees are up, lights are on, Christmas music is playing, candles are lit, and, most importantly, our faithful elf Scout has returned for the month. This year Scout is bringing a treat to the boys each day. We wanted to avoid just giving candy, so we decided to use all… Read More
