Twenty-Four Years of Us

Twenty-four years ago today, I walked down this beautiful aisle to exchange I Dos with Honey. It truly feels like it’s gone by in a blink.

Back in 2002, I had absolutely no idea what May would eventually look like with children. 😂 I don’t think we’ve had a “normal” anniversary in years. We’ve celebrated everywhere from ball fields to concerts to graduation parties and dance recitals.

This year? Just the usual weekday shuffle of work, activities and life moving at full speed.

That said, Honey surprised me with the most divine dinner out last night that I’ll share soon, and tonight we plan to do exactly the kind of thing we both love most… lounge by the pool while sending Whit to grab our favorite Thai takeout for supper.

Over twenty-four years, we’ve discovered we share a mutual love for so many of life’s simple things. Reading, murder mystery shows, cheering on our home teams and our boys’ teams, Georgia Tech and now Auburn, cards and puzzles, Disney, Alanis Morissette and Zac Brown, movie nights, game nights, seafood and sushi, road trips, seeing the USA, sudoku, costume parties, pool lounging and yes… even math.

Honey is smart, hardworking and honest. But more than anything, he is incredibly patient, tenderhearted and kind. And I still think he’s terribly handsome.

Some days I can hardly believe he’s mine. I can still so clearly remember the first time I saw him on my very first day of college… and somehow he turned FIFTY-ONE last week.

I look forward to growing very, very old with this man. Happy 24 years, Honey.

One More Curtain Call

Some nights just deserve a permanent spot on the blog. We truly thought Whit’s last “last” concert had already come and gone, but in typical teenage boy fashion, he surprised us with one more. And what a finale it turned out to be. Watch Video Whit had the incredible honor of learning from and performing… Read More

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter

There are certain Disney resorts that may not have the flashiest pools, the fanciest restaurants or the highest price tag, yet somehow guests return home completely smitten. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter is one of those places. Charming, compact and full of atmosphere, French Quarter has quietly become one of the most beloved… Read More
