Porch Progress {Week 7}

June 11, 2012July 28, 2015

*womp womp* No progress to report on the porch.  Zip. Zilch. Nada.  I know, I know, good things come to those who wait, and I have no doubt that it’ll blow my skirt up when done.  Trouble is, waiting comes hard for this admitted instant gratification gal. So… for this week’s edition of Porch Progress,… Read More

Another Ikea Chair Makeover

June 7, 2012August 26, 2016

Almost exactly a year ago I attempted to show y’all how I spruced up a couple of nineteen dollar Ikea chairs with a custom, monogrammed, DIY slip cover. And coincidentally, I’m back three hundred and sixty-something days later with a second custom, monogrammed, DIY Ikea chair makeover!  Now, since I needed only two of these… Read More

Porch Progress {Week 6}

June 4, 2012July 28, 2015

Even with Monday’s holiday, we still saw some good progress on the porch last week! For starters, the fireplace insert is in!  We went with a 42” box that’s wood burning with a gas starter.  It will be bricked up on the inside…fingers crossed that’ll happen this week. Honey picked up the screen door we… Read More

Porch Progress {Weeks 4-5}

May 30, 2012July 28, 2015

With all the goings and doings to wrap up school, baseball and celebrate a three day weekend, I’ve been neglecting my porch progress updates.  So, here we go… Most of the last couple of weeks were spent waiting on inspections.  Boo!  On the flip side, the roof is on, the skylights are in, the electrical… Read More

I Love {Angie Reuter}

May 16, 2012July 28, 2015

It’s been a while since my last “I Love” edition and this one is beyond overdue.  I had the great fortune of meeting Angie just about two years ago and really getting to know this beautiful gal last summer.  First and foremost, she’s mommy to three beautiful boys, wife to a talented man, friend to… Read More

Guest Room {Before & After}

May 14, 2012July 28, 2015

Y’all, I am positively thrilled to finally be sharing the before and after of my guest room.  In fact, it’s being occupied this very minute by its first guests – Mother and Daddy-O! Here’s the before…it was actually one of the best rooms in the house on move in day. And here’s the room with… Read More

Porch Progress {Week 3}

May 12, 2012July 28, 2015

The porch really got off the ground this week and I’m so excited I can hardly contain myself!  It’s totally framed up and the floor is down.     I think the roof will be completed next week and the electrical and gas work will commence.  I can hardly wait for my first glass of iced tea… Read More

Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️ Some nights just deserve a place on the grid. 🎻⚡️

Whit had the incredible honor of learning from and performing on stage with Mark Wood… original electric violinist for Trans-Siberian Orchestra, creator of the iconic Viper electric violin and composer known for blending classical music with rock energy in the most unforgettable way.

And unforgettable is exactly what this night was.

Symphonic rock. Hard rock. Heavy metal. A full stage of student musicians absolutely pouring their hearts into every note with so much confidence, passion and energy.

And then there was Whit… featured cellist during Carry On Wayward Son, which already held a spot on my all-time favorites list before this night. Watching him up there completely in his element was one of those proud mom moments I know I’ll hold onto forever.

I know this video is long and maybe a little “mom scrapbook” coded… but this one deserved its square among the memories and adventures.🤍
